About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years as an Inbound Manager or Inbound Area Manager, or in a directly equivalent full-ownership receiving role, plus prior supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-SKU, high-complexity, high-volume receiving environment, with the ability to discuss SKU count, daily volume, headcount, and dock-to-stock metrics.
  • Extensive experience managing inbound consumer packaged goods operations across less-than-truckload, full-truckload, and mixed pallets.
  • Operational leadership and people-management experience in a fast-paced third-party logistics fulfillment setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of a warehouse management system and comfort working in an integrated system environment.
  • Comfort operating in a system still being built, where manual controls may be needed temporarily.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate and strategize with business stakeholders and clients.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and some holidays as business needs require.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee receiving of less-than-truckload, full-truckload, and mixed-pallet consumer packaged goods shipments, ensuring accurate and efficient unloading.
  • Own dock scheduling and appointment management, sequencing freight against labor, storage, and downstream kitting and outbound needs.
  • Drive dock-to-stock performance, including expedited handling for components gating an active kitting run or fulfillment-by-Amazon shipment.
  • Direct the team in verifying merchandise against bills of lading and packing lists, maintaining standards during high-volume periods.
  • Identify, document, and resolve shortages, overages, damages, and mislabeled freight by addressing root causes rather than making adjustments alone.
  • Partner with Inventory Control and Prep on slotting, put-away logic, and overflow management.
  • Manage returns and reverse-logistics receiving, including inspection, disposition, and reconciliation.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate leads and associates to build bench strength.
  • Serve as inbound's point of contact for clients and hold suppliers and carriers accountable to appointment, labeling, and documentation standards.
  • Act as inbound's business owner for the in-house warehouse management system build by defining requirements, testing functionality, and prioritizing fixes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, including throughput, receipt accuracy, dock-to-stock, and labor productivity, and report performance to the Operations Manager.
  • Uphold a safe working environment, including dock safety, powered industrial truck certification, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance.
  • Learn the company's receiving profiles and client requirements, and shadow shipments from trailer arrival through system-available inventory to identify accuracy and dock-to-stock gaps during the first 30 days.
  • Establish a key performance indicator cadence and baseline for dock-to-stock, receiving accuracy, and discrepancy-resolution time, and establish a daily operating rhythm during days 30โ€“60.
  • Deliver a prioritized improvement plan with owners and dates during days 60โ€“90.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Amazon fulfillment-by-Amazon requirements, including prep, packaging, and FNSKU labeling.
  • Experience using a proprietary or in-house-built warehouse management system.
  • Experience partnering with an internal software or information technology team as the operational voice, writing requirements, and running user acceptance testing.
  • Component-level or bill-of-materials-driven inventory experience supporting kitting or production.
  • Experience establishing a new inbound program, onboarding a client, or migrating a warehouse management system.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or formal continuous-improvement training.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or equivalent operating experience.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
