BNY embeds AI everywhere but won't say how much it spends of its $4B tech budget

BNY, which says it is embedding artificial intelligence (AI) across its business, declined to say how much it spends on the technology. Chief executive officer Robin Vince told analysts on its third-quarter earnings call that the bank is not breaking out the figure, and that doing so could be "counterproductive." Vince said AI is generating returns. About $4 billion of BNY's $13 billion annual expense base goes to technology. The bank now has "400-plus" AI solutions in production, up from 117 a year ago. BNY reported revenue of $5.7 billion, up 12%, and net income of $1.7 billion, up 16%. Earnings per share were $2.34, against a consensus estimate of $2.27.
