Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the National Electrical Code is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical drafting and Bluebeam for document review and markup workflows is required.
  • Familiarity with electrical load calculations, single-line diagram interpretation, and point-of-connection analysis is required.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in A&E or industrial engineering design environments is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • A detail-oriented approach to data management, quality assurance and quality control processes, and change control documentation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain the completeness and accuracy of the electrical pre-assignment database by integrating data from updated layouts, new supplier documentation, and facilities installations.
  • Analyze changes to point-of-connection locations and load-capacity impacts while applying National Electrical Code requirements and standards for system integrity and protective-device coordination.
  • Coordinate with project teams to align electrical point-of-connection and capacity needs with phased installation schedules, and flag and escalate gaps or inconsistencies to discipline leads in a timely manner.
  • Review equipment datasheets, vendor submittals, and shop drawings to validate electrical requirements and update pre-assignment data in AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to assess the impact of tool-scope changes on electrical distribution systems from pre-design through construction administration.
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination meetings with project managers, contractors, suppliers, and field engineers to support risk-mitigation strategies and manage change-control processes within the electrical discipline.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control checks of electrical documentation and pre-assignment entries to confirm adherence to applicable regulatory codes and project-specific standards.
  • Maintain documentation and change logs to support traceability and audit readiness in accordance with internal quality-management systems.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives to optimize pre-assignment database workflows and increase cross-discipline collaboration efficiency.

SHYFT Collective design team acquired by SSOE Group

SHYFT Collective design team acquired by SSOE Group. SSOE Group, a global architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Toldeo, Ohio, announced the acquisition of Des Moines-based SHYFT Collective's architecture and design team to enhance its service capacity in the Des Moines and Columbus, Ohio, markets. "Our clients will continue working with the same trusted team, now supported by the scale and experience of SSOE," Steve Reynolds, founding partner and principal of SHYFT, said in a prepared statement. "SSOE brings the capacity and portfolio of a firm that successfully delivers projects of every size and complexity. With their resources behind us, we now can execute larger scopes and provide a full range of services under one roof while also creating more informed designs using computational and AI powered tools." The acquisition closed on Oct. 10, with Shyft Construction continuing to operate independently in the Iowa and Ohio markets. Founded in 1948, SSOE is a global design firm with more than 1,400 employees and 20 offices worldwide.
