VHB receives bbj's Corporate Citizenship Award for fourth year in a row. Boston, MA. September 18, 2026 For the fourth consecutive year, VHB has been honored with the Boston Business Journal's Corporate Citizenship Award, which recognizes the most charitable companies in Massachusetts. President and CEO Bill Ashworth and Chief People Officer Keri Kocur attended the ceremony to accept the award, along with Director of Transportation Rob Nagi and Civil Designer David Henao Rodriguez, who are key contributors to its employee-led philanthropic program, VHB Cares. Since its company's founding in 1979, VHB and its team members have raised more than $5 million for charitable organizations through VHB Cares. Through this employee-led program, each office selects local organizations that align with their personal interests and passions. VHB provides the flexibility for involvement in these charities and community service projects during the workday and matches team member donations. VHB Cares also regularly hosts companywide, regional, and local fundraising events throughout the year. Launched in 1999, VBay is the firm's largest annual fundraiser, consisting of a week-long online auction of donated items, daily raffles, and in-office celebrations. In May 2026, the VBay auction raised more than $56,000 through contributions from both VHB and its employees. An impressive variety of auction items were donated, ranging from weekend getaways and sporting event tickets to handmade treats, original artwork, and unique local experiences. VHB Cares also organizes the annual VHB Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament, which over 33 years has raised more than $1.8 million for cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. August 31, 2026 Two VHB team members from Vermont, Transportation Technology Lead Jeff Bachiochi, PE, and Director of Structures Aaron Guyette, recently presented at DBIA New England's Friday Forum, Technology: No More Plans? A Virtual Procurement, Part 2, a discussion focused on the rapid evolution of digital delivery and model-based project development in the transportation industry. The virtual session brought together transportation professionals from across the region to explore how agencies are advancing digital delivery initiatives and leveraging 3D models to transform the way infrastructure projects are planned, designed, delivered, and constructed. Drawing on VHB's experience supporting digital delivery efforts in Vermont, Jeff shared lessons learned from transportation agency pilot programs, including the implementation of Model as a Legal Document (MALD), and discussed how model-centric workflows are reshaping project delivery practices. Throughout the session, Jeff and Aaron highlighted both the opportunities and challenges associated with moving beyond traditional plan-based approaches. The conversation explored how evolving technologies can improve collaboration, enhance project understanding, and support more efficient design-build delivery while also raising important considerations around procurement, risk management, and construction practices.
