Requirements
  • A four-year bachelor's degree in a STEM field is preferred; a technical school degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, transmission-scale photovoltaic power generation facilities, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Understanding of independent system operator, transmission operator, and transmission operator provider tariffs and rules of engagement; functional knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation and Critical Infrastructure Protection standards; knowledge of the National Electrical Code, standard design and construction practices, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration safe workplace practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of electric utilities maintenance and photovoltaic and battery energy storage system performance analysis and reporting, repairs, testing, commissioning, installation, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities while ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and conduct analysis independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to document work and communicate clearly and accurately verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays on a 12-hour rotation, and be available on call outside normal business hours.
  • Ability to supervise and coach others in a matrix work environment.
  • Must be willing to work irregular schedules to meet client and project deadlines.
  • Must live within 60 minutes of Scottsdale, Arizona, and have reliable transportation to and from the QE office/control center.
  • Ability to work on site in a control center environment, monitor multiple screens for extended periods, communicate effectively, stay alert and make timely decisions, work scheduled shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and lift and carry up to 15 pounds if necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor and operate multiple power plant sites using supervisory control and data acquisition systems, data acquisition platforms, alarm management, and other computer systems to maximize site production.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including plant managers, field staff, and portfolio leads, and external stakeholders, including transmission and balancing authorities, to maximize system performance and ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct remote investigations, performance analysis, and reporting, and provide technical support to field technicians.
  • Escalate concerns to maintain project operations or availability, and track and advise on progress against project models or production targets.
  • Assist the Control Center Manager with scheduling and operational administrative tasks.
  • Provide guidance and hands-on training to control center operators.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures and training modules for control center operations.
  • Collaborate with control center employees and the Control Center Manager to implement initiatives that improve efficiency, compliance, and accountability.
  • Correspond with client representatives and asset owners to deliver requested goals and deliverables.
  • Assist external parties in delivering compliance documents.
  • Manage direct reports.
  • Maintain accurate logs, adhere to security requirements, use and document three-part communication, and comply with daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual North American Electric Reliability Corporation requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external compliance audits and inspections.
  • Assist with monitoring and dispatching for commercial and industrial solar sites and maintenance scheduling.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve QE Solar's operational efficiency and effectiveness, including procedure development and review, special projects, data analysis, and quality assurance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with battery energy storage system power generation facilities, preferably at transmission scale.
  • One to two years of management experience in positions with direct reports.
  • North American Electric Reliability Corporation certification.
  • PJM and other independent system operator certifications.
  • Battery energy storage system original equipment manufacturer certifications or experience.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical diagrams, project design drawings, and other system construction documents.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30 certification.
  • Completion of National Fire Protection Association 70E courses.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid certification.
