About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3–4 years focused on Bluetooth development.
  • Deep expertise in Bluetooth Low Energy protocols, profiles, and the Bluetooth Core Specification.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and C, and experience with mobile development in Kotlin for Android and/or Swift or Objective-C for iOS.
  • Experience with Rust or strong willingness to learn and work in a Rust environment.
  • A proven track record of shipping production Bluetooth features in mobile applications.
  • Experience debugging complex connectivity issues across diverse device ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, state machines, and asynchronous programming.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust Bluetooth Low Energy solutions in C++, C, or Kotlin for iOS and Android, handling complex connection states and central and peripheral roles while ensuring low-latency, high-throughput performance.
  • Implement Bluetooth profiles and features, including advertising strategies, scanning optimization, and connection management, to improve device discovery and pairing success.
  • Build error-handling and recovery mechanisms that manage unreliable Bluetooth connections, interference, edge cases, and device-specific behaviors.
  • Profile code, identify bottlenecks, and make architectural decisions to optimize latency, throughput, connection stability, and power efficiency.
  • Develop automated, primarily Python-based testing frameworks to validate Bluetooth performance across device types, operating-system versions, and real-world scenarios.
  • Collaborate with mobile app developers, platform engineers, and product teams to integrate Bluetooth with other transport layers, including Wi-Fi Direct and LAN, and provide a unified sync experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Production experience with Rust in systems programming or networking contexts.
  • Experience with Bluetooth Mesh or other mesh networking protocols.
  • Background in distributed systems or peer-to-peer networking.
  • Familiarity with local transport protocols such as Wi-Fi Direct and NFC.
  • Python scripting for test automation and tooling.
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization on mobile platforms.
  • Open-source contributions to Bluetooth-related projects.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems or IoT device development.

About the company

Ditto.live provides an Edge Sync Platform that helps developers build native apps for iOS, macOS, Android, and web with efficient data synchronization across devices and cloud. How it works: developers write code once and deploy to multiple platforms; the platform handles data syncing across edge devices and cloud, supports offline use, and enables peer-to-peer authentication and smooth cross-device experiences. How it differs: it targets distributed data across many devices rather than a single database, emphasizes offline and edge syncing, and focuses on a unified cross-platform deployment to reduce development time. The goal: simplify data handling and synchronization so apps can run consistently on multiple devices and platforms, delivering interconnected, responsive user experiences.
