Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering at a college or university, or pursuing a degree in a related field relevant to Civil Engineering, ideally with the goal of pursuing a career in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Having 0-2 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering, including residential and/or commercial, industrial, or office site design and permitting experience.
  • Having a valid driver's license, valid personal insurance, and a personal vehicle to travel to various sites during a given workday.
  • Being able to maintain and operate a personal and/or company vehicle.
  • Having knowledge of basic soil mechanics and introductory geotechnical science topics.
  • Being proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Having written and oral communication skills.
  • Having independent and critical thinking abilities.
  • Being able to work independently and with team members and present oneself professionally and confidently on construction sites and in an office environment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct construction site testing, inspection, and sampling.
  • Perform concrete placement tests, including slump, air content, and temperature testing; monitor material compliance with project specifications; fabricate concrete cylinders; and transport samples to the laboratory when applicable.
  • Perform soil compaction testing and fill placement monitoring.
  • Conduct laboratory soil testing for permeability and maximum dry density and optimum moisture content determination.
  • Witness and document soil borings and/or test pit investigations as part of a site geotechnical investigation.
  • Prepare inspection reports, laboratory data reports, and other project correspondence.
  • Deliver samples and/or testing equipment between sites, the office, and the laboratory as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or EIT-track status is preferred.
  • Completion of construction materials laboratory coursework is preferred.
