Stepan secures $500M five-year credit facility, up from $450M

Stepan Company has secured a new $500 million five-year credit agreement, replacing its previous $450 million facility and boosting liquidity by $50 million. The specialty chemicals maker announced the deal on 25 September 2026. The new package comprises a $350 million multicurrency revolving credit facility and a $150 million delayed draw term loan, both maturing in September 2031. An expansion option allows Stepan to increase total capacity to $750 million if needed. Interest rates are tied to the company's net leverage ratio, with spreads ranging from 1.125% to 1.625% above benchmark rates. JPMorgan Chase Bank serves as administrative agent, with Bank of America as syndication agent. The agreement includes standard financial covenants and will finance working capital, acquisitions, capital expenditure, and general corporate purposes.

Bank of America cuts Carnival stock target to $38 as unhedged fuel costs surge 30%

Bank of America Securities cut its price target on Carnival from $42 to $38 ahead of the cruise operator's third-quarter earnings report on 29 September. Analyst Andrew Didora cited surging fuel costs as the primary concern, not weakening demand. Brent oil has gained 30% amid increased Middle East tensions. Carnival is the only unhedged cruise operator among its rivals, making it particularly vulnerable. The company reported fuel costs were up roughly 30% in the second quarter, resulting in a $73 million negative impact. Despite robust demand and record quarterly revenue of $6.7 billion, fuel remains Carnival's biggest problem. Customer deposits hit a record $9 billion in the second quarter. Combined Bank of America credit and debit card spending on cruise lines jumped to the mid-teens year over year in July and August.

Bank of America keeps Buy rating on Merck stock ahead of crucial lung cancer data

Bank of America met with Merck's chief medical officer and maintained its Buy rating with a $166 price target, citing confidence in the drugmaker's pipeline. The meeting focused on sacituzumab tirumotecan, an antibody-drug conjugate being tested in lung cancer, with results expected 25 October at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress. Merck's Keytruda generated $31.7 billion in 2025 sales but faces US patent expiration starting in 2028. Management claims newer drugs carry over $70 billion in annual revenue potential by the mid-2030s. The chief medical officer dismissed concerns about a failed June trial with rival Gilead Sciences, noting different patient populations. BofA analysts believe pipeline data will drive the stock's next gains, though the $166 target offers modest upside from current levels.
