Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The employee must be able to proficiently program and edit designs in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing software, including NX and SolidWorks.
  • The employee must be able to operate computer numerical control and numerical control equipment and common tool room equipment, including mills, radial drills, surface grinders, and hand tools.
  • The employee must be able to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and prints.
  • The employee must be able to troubleshoot plastic injection moldings, mechanical maintenance systems, and related equipment.
  • The employee must be able to work with mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, fractions, metric-to-inch conversions, and geometric tolerances.
  • The employee must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with apprentices, machinists, mold maintenance personnel, managers, engineers, customers, and coworkers.
  • The employee must be able to work independently.
  • The employee must understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System policies and procedures and report QFSMS problems to a supervisor or manager.
  • The employee must maintain internal certifications and licenses as required, including powered-lift certifications or licenses.
  • The employee must regularly stand, use hands to handle tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; frequently lift and carry 50 pounds up to 10 feet; and occasionally lift and carry up to 75 pounds several feet.
  • The employee must wear safety glasses and hearing protection on the manufacturing floor and use required food-safety protective equipment, including hair nets, gloves, and applicable beard nets.
Responsibilities
  • Repair existing plastic injection molds and components.
  • Plan, lay out, and perform bench, machine, and finishing operations required to alter and condition intricately designed plastic injection molding dies and related fixtures.
  • Perform difficult machine setups and operations, including improvising tools and adapting machines beyond the normal range and capacities of available equipment.
  • Support production operations and work with mold maintenance to minimize downtime on the production floor.
  • Work from special instructions to maintain or alter molds and improve the original design.
  • Provide immediate response to production breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical guidance to apprentices, machinists, mold maintenance personnel, and production technicians as needed.
  • Work with outside vendors to process welding, polishing, plating, and other services as needed.
  • Verify that finished workpieces conform to specifications, and fit and assemble parts into complete assemblies while verifying dimensions and alignment.
  • Perform routine material handling and housekeeping associated with the job.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is desired.
  • Five years or more of related experience and/or training is desired.
  • Experience with multiple types of hot runner systems, especially Husky, is desirable.
  • A Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Certificate is highly desired but not required.
