Jazz Pharmaceuticals launches Ziihera for HER2-positive cancer with $3B–$5B peak sales outlook

Jazz Pharmaceuticals has launched Ziihera in the US following FDA approval for first-line treatment of HER2-positive, unresectable or metastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma. The drug can be used with tislelizumab and chemotherapy, or with chemotherapy alone for certain patients. In the Phase III HERIZON-GEA-01 trial, Ziihera-based regimens reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 35%. The triplet regimen extended median overall survival to 26.4 months, a 28% reduction in death risk versus trastuzumab. Jazz Pharmaceuticals to acquire Actio Biosciences for $820M upfront, adding KCNT1+ epilepsy therapy

Jazz Pharmaceuticals has agreed to acquire Actio Biosciences for $820 million upfront and up to $500 million in contingent payments. The deal adds ABS-1230, a clinical-stage precision therapy for KCNT1+ epilepsy, to Jazz's rare epilepsy portfolio. KCNT1+ epilepsy is a rare genetic condition affecting approximately 2,500 patients in the United States. Patients typically experience dozens to hundreds of seizures daily that resist standard medications. Around 80% of cases begin in infancy, with many children unable to reach basic developmental milestones. There are currently no FDA-approved therapies for KCNT1+ epilepsy. ABS-1230 recently showed meaningful seizure reductions in an early clinical trial. The ongoing Phase 1b/2a KYRON trial is designed as the registrational study supporting US new drug application submission.
