Requirements
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • The candidate must be matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least a 2.5 GPA, and/or matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least a 2.8 GPA.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
  • Applicants must submit a student transcript.
Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day assistance by scheduling meetings, supporting emergency coordination calls, preparing presentations, and supporting departmental projects as needed.
  • Assist with compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration Title 29 CFR Part 1910 Subpart E, Exit Routes and Emergency Planning.
  • Identify potential funding opportunities, review eligibility criteria, and maintain a database of active and upcoming grants.
  • Assist in preparing draft summaries, collecting required documentation, and organizing materials for grant submissions.
  • Schedule training sessions, track attendance, and assist with logistics, including materials, room setup, and communication with trainers.
  • Maintain accurate project timeline records, an organized filing system, event budgets, and participation metrics for reporting.
  • Organize repositories so staff can quickly locate plans, contact lists, standard operating procedures, and resource inventories.
  • Deliver a final presentation of at least 30 minutes covering accomplishments, learning, and career applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred majors are Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Fire Science, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Organizational, analytical, and communication skills are desired.
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have attention to detail and be able to work independently while being an active team member.
  • Project areas include grant research and tracking to identify funding opportunities; training and exercise coordination; and data management, reporting, and filing for grants and project timelines.
