Diptyque is a luxury fragrance and home-scent brand that started in Paris in 1961. It began as a chic shop selling fabrics and decorative items and grew into a label known for scented candles and eau de toilette. Its products work by combining traditional craftsmanship with scent design: candles release distinctive aromas when lit, and perfumes blend notes to create a signature fragrance. The brand differentiates itself through its artistic heritage, long-running story, and Parisian aesthetic—born from designers and artists, not just a mass-market label—and by maintaining a strong sense of identity tied to textiles, travel-inspired scents, and refined packaging. Diptyque aims to offer high-quality, story-driven fragrances and home scents that complement a sophisticated lifestyle, while expanding its global presence and preserving the founders’ creative vision.

By Sarah Lin French lifestyle brand Diptyque will reopen its boutique in Palisades Village on Aug. 15. The 387-square-foot store at 15275 Palisades Village Lane is designed as a mix of Parisian interior style and Mediterranean and marine influences. Features include a planted central island with a tree, alcoves displaying candles and fragrances, thick plaster finishes, raw wood, terracotta tiles and a mural. Collections on offer include scented candles, personal fragrances, body and skin care products, and decorative objects. A selection of ceramics by Parisian artisan Jean Roger is also on display. The boutique will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The reopening coincides with the broader return of Palisades Village following damage from the 2025 wildfires.
Diptyque reinvents its cult Orphéon scent as a sparkling Eau de Toilette. The Parisian house gives one of its most beloved fragrances a luminous new twist. Diptyque unveils Orphéon Eau de Toilette, a brighter, citrus-forward reinterpretation of its cult scent. A summer-ready reinvention already tipped to become a signature. A fresh take on a cult favourite Diptyque has created a bright, sparkling eau de toilette with a citrusy appeal that feels fitting for this time of year. The brand's reimagination of its iconic scent Orphéon is about to become every it-girl's signature scent. A lighter, more radiant counterpoint to the original eau de parfum, designed for warmer days. The art of reinterpretation Rather than launching an entirely new fragrance, Diptyque chose to revisit an existing icon, a strategy increasingly favoured by perfume houses. By offering a fresh concentration of a beloved scent, the maison extends the life of a signature creation while appealing to both loyal fans and a new generation of fragrance lovers. Niche perfumery's enduring appeal The launch confirms the strength of niche perfumery in a competitive beauty market. As consumers seek distinctive, story-driven scents over mass-market offerings, houses like Diptyque cultivate desirability through craftsmanship, heritage and carefully timed reinventions, turning a single fragrance into an enduring olfactory franchise.
Why Diptyque gave its iconic candle a makeover. The brand's CMO shared how its new redesign remains aligned with the label's heritage. Apr 16, 2026 8:00 AM EDT What's a socially acceptable age to get a facelift? For Diptyque, it's 63. (Someone tell the Kardashians.) On Thursday, the luxury fragrance brand launched the redesign of its classic candle - its first-ever re-vamp since launching in 1963. "This exciting renovation is the next generation of Diptyque - a visual, sensorial and sustainable update of our most iconic product - ushering the brand into an era that marries our beautiful brand heritage with modern luxury codes," Jessie Dawes, chief marketing officer of Diptyque Americas, tells Fashionista. This involved making subtle changes to the candle vessel and label: In collaboration with Franco-Swiss designer Julie Richoz, the brand reimagined its iconic vessel with an oval shape embossed on the side. While the label's typeface remains the same, a glass ridge now outlines the label's perimeter, adding a new level of emphasis. "The new collection doesn't introduce entirely new historical references; instead, it deepens and elevates existing ones, honoring the brand's legacy while subtly modernizing its expression," Dawes says. Diptyque also collaborated with perfumers Alexandra Carlin and Olivia Giacobetti to introduce five new scents - Cafe (Coffee), Ortie (Nettle), Sesame Noir (Black Sesame), Rhubarbe (Rhubarb) and Shiso - to join its extensive candle collection. The makeover comes with another future-minded facet: sustainability. Diptyque focused on waste reduction with its candle re-vamp, incorporating this goal in multiple ways. Starting in September, select candles will be refillable. The updated vessel design also uses a new, proprietary pressed-glass technique that results in an 18% reduction in carbon footprint, per the brand. It's not uncommon for brands, beauty or otherwise, to undergo visual makeovers - but for a legacy label as established and recognized as Diptyque, the development is notable. In some instances, redesigns are a risky strategy with potential to alienate longtime core customers. Diptyque's is subtle, though, and according to Dawes, the team's goal was to maintain the brand's visual identity while modernizing it. "The new vessel very consciously preserves and reinterprets the brand's heritage," she emphasizes. She points out the label typography as an example: "The distinctive typeface, originally created by founder Desmond Knox-Leet, stays true to its origins yet has been stretched and enhanced to bring a modern approach. Inspired by cryptographic codes, the new font and appearance reflect the founders' artistic freedom and remain a core element of Diptyque's visual identity." Diptyque's redesigned candle vessel is available to shop online, here.
Diptyque introduces candle refills alongside redesigned vessels and new scents. 14 April 2026 Diptyque is updating its candle collection, introducing a redesigned vessel, new fragrances and a refill system aimed at extending product lifespan and reducing environmental impact. Across four chapters, the luxury brand seeks to reaffirm its timeless appeal while continuing evolve the fragrance experience. Chapter 1 - New design The brand's signature candle - recognisable by its transparent glass vessel, white wax and black-and-white oval label - has been subtly redesigned in collaboration with Franco-Swiss designer Julie Richoz. The updated vessel retains its original identity while incorporating refined contours. A new oval ridge in the glass frames the label, adding depth and enhancing the way light interacts with the surface. The label itself remains monochrome and oval-shaped, but now features a slightly raised texture and more defined lettering. However, the typography continues to reference the original design by Diptyque co-founder Desmond Knox-Leet, maintaining its cryptography-inspired style while appearing more pronounced. Chapter 2: New scents As part of the evolution, Diptyque is also expanding the range with five new fragrances, developed by perfumers Alexandra Carlin and Olivia Giacobetti. Amanda Morgan, Managing Director UK for Diptyque, tells TheIndustry.beauty: "Our herbarium of scents continues to play an essential key part of our fragrance design in Diptyque." The new fragrances align with the brand's ethos of discovering scents from around the world, embracing artistic freedom, and drawing inspiration from nature, inviting consumers on an olfactory journey. The additions are: * Café (Coffee) * Ortie (Nettle) * Sésame Noir (Black Sesame) * Rhubarbe (Rhubarb) * Shiso "Our Café candle comes from the freshly ground notes of coffee, a blend of roast with woody notes. Our new Ortie candle gives a vegetable watery and aromatic smell in the air. Rhubarb brings forth the classic sweet and tangy mix, a beautiful contrast," notes Morgan. "Sésame Noir introduces a dry and spicy scent from a black sesame paste, with hints of roasted hazelnuts. Lastly our new Shiso candle, encapsulates a fresh and aromatic scent of green, with a spicy tinge." Chapter 3 - Refills From autumn 2026, Diptyque will then introduce refills for its classic candles, initially available in ten of its core fragrances. The system is designed to extend the life of the glass vessel and reduce waste. The refill inserts are packaged in a protective casing made from paperfoam, a bio-based and recyclable material. The redesigned glass vessel is also approximately 10% lighter than previous versions. According to the brand, reusing the vessel can reduce the candle's carbon footprint by around 22%, with further reductions achieved through continued refill use. "The upcoming refills are in-line with the brand's continued efforts to extend the life of our products in a sustainable way, which Diptyque has been exploring in different avenues already. So, the candle refills were a natural next step for our iconic candles and an invitation to a new ritual with your candle," Morgan explains. "Craftsmanship is held in high importance in our production. Diptyque is known for its meticulous detail, an eye for design and with the new vessel, our candles feel even more elevated. It is all about the union of beauty and functionality without compromising on quality." Chapter 4 - Decorative objects The updated candle collection will also be accompanied by new decorative accessories designed around the theme of flame and light. These include items made from borosilicate glass and biscuit porcelain, such as a coated candle holder, a stand, a lid topped with the Diptyque pyramid, and matchboxes."
China Airlines unveils Marc Jacobs amenity kits. Published 25th March 2026 China Airlines has become the latest airline to refresh its amenity kits - an update that's likely to appeal to a new generation of travellers Flag carrier China Airlines is launching new amenity kits in premium economy and business class cabins in collaboration with American fashion house Marc Jacobs. Kits include a branded amenity bag, eye masks and leather cable tidy, as well as cosmetics from Danish lifestyle brand Frama. They will initially launch on the airline's route from Taipei to Prague on 28 March, before being rolled out across long-haul routes from May. The launch follows a flurry of big-name amenity kit collaborations, including Lufthansa's amenity kits teaming up with cult German skincare brand Babor and Qatar Airways joining forces with iconic French fragrance brand Diptyque. What's included. Those flying in China Airlines' business class cabins could receive one of two different styles. Inspired by Marc Jacobs' signature product - The Everyday Vanity Bag - the first is a structured boxy bag crafted in tan leather. China Airlines says the style will be offered on flights departing Taipei. The second style, available on return journeys, is a cream pouch with gold hardware and a bold Marc Jacobs logo. Both kits include a Marc Jacobs-branded eye mask and tan leather cable tidy, Frama lip balm and hand cream, plus a mini hairbrush, earplugs, bamboo dental set and multi-adaptor charging cable. Premium economy amenity bags come in two colours - either lemon yellow or dark blue - with the front embossed in Marc Jacobs' typical style, with text reading "The Flight Case". These include upgraded skin care products, as well as foldable slippers. Catering to a new demographic. The new amenity kits are the latest change to come in a series of updates to the carrier's inflight offering. Recently, China Airlines announced it will be updating its inflight entertainment selection later this year, adding shows from streaming platform Disney+, and introduced free inflight wifi last summer. The change made China Airlines the first Taiwanese carrier to offer complimentary inflight connectivity, allowing business class and premium economy passengers to enjoy unlimited browsing, while those in economy have access to free messaging. Another upgrade came in the form of inflight dining. The airline has teamed up with Taipei-based vegetarian restaurant Little Tree Food to offer vegetarian options on all routes, including truffle scrambled eggs in premium economy and business, and a mushroom fajita omelette in economy. While China Airlines says the dining refresh is a sustainability measure, it - along with the other updates - signals a broader strategic shift. Collectively, these changes appeal to younger travellers - a demographic that increasingly expects constant connectivity and a diverse range of dietary options. The latest collaboration with Marc Jacobs follows this direction. Thanks to its bold, NYC-inspired aesthetic and playful luxury appeal, the brand is popular among a fashion-forward crowd. It's currently at the forefront of the cultural landscape too, with the American designer being the focus of a new Sofia Coppola documentary due to hit cinemas across the US on 27 March. The collaboration ensures the airline secures a place in the minds of the new generation of travellers, while its partnership with Frama leans into the growing emphasis on wellness in the travel industry, aligning the brand with wider consumer trends.
