Requirements
  • Meet American Registry of Radiologic Technologists standards.
  • Meet Massachusetts state licensing standards.
  • Hold licenses in both Mammography and Radiography from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Provide documentation of continuing education and licensing updates to the mammography supervisor.
  • Complete two years of formal Radiologic Technology training, including at least one year of radiography experience and additional training in mammography.
  • Be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Have good interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of mammography, including screening, diagnostic examinations, needle localization, and other related imaging.
  • Operate imaging equipment and other devices as appropriate.
  • Position patients to obtain anatomic information.
  • Calculate exposure factors correctly to reduce radiation exposure to patients.
  • Practice radiation protection for patients and personnel.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and take additional radiographs when needed to better demonstrate pathology.
  • Evaluate requisitions for appropriate history and clinical information and seek guidance when the correct examination is questionable.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Perform diagnostic mammography regularly and maintain competency in needle localization and/or stereotactic biopsy procedures.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with patients, coworkers, and medical staff.
  • Assist in training student radiographers.
  • Manage patient flow, room use, supply stocking, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency and minimize patient wait times.
  • Follow Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient.
  • Attend the annual blood-borne pathogens and Occupational Safety and Health Administration in-service.
  • Practice aseptic technique when necessary.
  • Produce accurate computer and written records for each examination.
  • Complete Epic entries and requisition correlation accurately.
  • Pursue continuing education through department and hospital programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.
  • Digitize appropriate mammography films using the computer-aided detection system.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as required or directed by supervisors.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
