Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent work experience in the finance industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience in customer service and collections.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in either a leadership or group member role.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong financial statement analysis skills.
  • Commercial funding experience.
  • Credit adjudication experience.
Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned past-due accounts from first-day delinquency through final resolution by collecting past-due amounts professionally and courteously.
  • Analyze payment relief requests by completing workout write-ups in the designated credit system, including detailed analysis of customers' balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and projections.
  • Negotiate and arrange payment plans, perform skip tracing, and minimize organizational losses.
  • Provide customers with extensions or restructures as appropriate.
  • Make outbound calls, collect payments, and establish payment plans until final resolution.
  • Complete extension or restructure requests and provide recommendations to the Collections Team, including analysis of associated risks and benefits.
  • Process exceptions and liaise with trustees, attorneys, repossession agents, skip agencies, and other approved vendors to maximize recovery opportunities.
  • Monitor and escalate high-risk and complex accounts when needed, and analyze facts and information to determine appropriate solutions or next actions.
  • Monitor the existing supplier portfolio and seek opportunities to expand or contract vendor engagements while focusing on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish governance for ongoing vendor relationship management and develop and monitor contracts and service-level agreements with the Procurement team.
  • Identify, quantify, report, and manage risks associated with outsourcing opportunities, process optimization, and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide support to collections team members and work with other departments to resolve matters.
  • Support extension and vendor approvals for the collections team based on established levels of authority.
  • Support continuous process improvements for the collections team and validate and maintain up-to-date procedures in Compass.
  • Share collections best practices, train staff, and improve overall department knowledge.
  • Support projects and special assignments as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensure compliance with local and global credit rules and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare Special Assets Committee presentations and risk review reports.

Nigerian Tiktok Content Moderator Found Dead In Nairobi

A Nigerian national working as a TikTok content moderator for Teleperformance Kenya was found dead in her apartment in Nairobi. The deceased, identified as Ladi Anzaki Olubunmi, had reportedly been missing from work for three days before her colleagues raised concerns, leading to the discovery of her body on March 7, 2025 at her apart at Studio 103 in Lower Kabete, Nairobi.Olubunmi, who had been working in Kenya for over two years, was allegedly struggling with work-related stress and had expressed a strong desire to return home to Nigeria. Reports indicate that she faced difficulties obtaining the necessary travel permits, preventing her from visiting her family for an extended period.Teleperformance Kenya, the outsourcing firm contracted to moderate content for TikTok, has denied allegations that Olubunmi was denied leave. In an official statement, the company termed the claims as “baseless and untrue.” The firm also refuted accusations that employees lacked proper work permits that restricted their ability to travel home.Following Olubunmi’s tragic death, her family is now facing financial constraints in repatriating her body to Nigeria. With the high costs involved, they are reportedly considering the possibility of laying her to rest in Nairobi. The demand for voice and speech recognition technologies is massive — and growing. An analysis by market research firm Markets and Markets found that the sector could be worth over $28.1 billion by 2027. There’s no shortage of vendors providing voice and speech recognition solutions, but some newer upstarts have managed to carve out niches. Sanas is a good example.
