Project Design Manager
About the job
- A bachelor's degree in engineering.
- More than 10 years of experience in the mining or mineral processing industry.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng./PE) designation in Canada or the United States, or eligibility to obtain it in the near term.
- Strong experience in mentoring and team management.
- Knowledge of applicable standards and codes.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and technical documents.
- Understanding of project schedules and their coordination with engineering and execution activities.
- Strong awareness and application of health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Ability to travel occasionally to the United States for work.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada or the United States.
- Ensure design personnel follow established design procedures.
- Ensure design deliverables comply with applicable laws and standards and with client and third-party requirements.
- Ensure the technical integrity and quality of design deliverables.
- Ensure deliverables are completed within the design budget.
- Track and update design progress, including issues, blockers, changes, risks, and deliverables.
- Lead and document design coordination meetings in accordance with procedures.
- Ensure deliverables are optimized for constructability, operability, and maintainability.
- Provide feedback to the technical manager on the effectiveness of quality systems and the performance of the design team.
- Represent the company and contribute to developing strong client relationships.
- Participate in requirements and reporting related to Safety in Design.
- Contribute actively to project execution and support the design team as needed.
- Occasional travel to the United States for work.
