Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead CPI Card Group's data engineering function and own the people, delivery, and technology of the cloud-native Databricks Lakehouse on AWS.
  • Build, lead, and develop the data engineering team through hiring, coaching, performance management, career development, team structuring, staffing plans, objective setting, and work allocation.
  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of the enterprise data platform on Databricks and AWS, including Landing, Bronze Raw, Silver Standardized, and Gold Consumption, Aggregates, and Semantic layers.
  • Prioritize the data initiative portfolio, manage delivery timelines and dependencies, and ensure reliable execution for analytics, generative AI, and agentic AI workloads.
  • Ensure the production data platform is reliable, secure, and cost-efficient through service-level agreements, monitoring, and incident management.
  • Oversee governance including Unity Catalog administration, role-based access control, data classification, lineage, and data quality, while ensuring compliance with SOX, PCI-DSS, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Own the data engineering budget, including cloud spend, tooling, and consulting partners.
  • Lead vendor evaluation, selection, and management, and make build-versus-buy and platform investment decisions.
  • Partner with functional executives to align the roadmap with business priorities and present strategy, progress, risks, and investment recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
  • Set engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices for Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform, monorepo continuous integration and continuous delivery with GitLab, and pipeline design patterns using PySpark and Delta.
  • Provide senior technical direction and design review, guide the Data Architect and engineers, and serve as an escalation point for complex technical problems.
  • Sponsor enterprise master data management, including the Unique Customer ID program.
  • Ensure the data platform and migration strategy support the future Acumatica ERP implementation.
  • Champion the company's AI enablement agenda, including reusable data and AI platform capabilities and AI Office Hours.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, headcount business cases, and organizational design for the broader Business Technology and Data function.
  • Own technical and operational decisions for the data platform and manage associated vendor relationships and budget.
  • Account for the enterprise data platform serving all CPI business units and underpinning the company's multi-year transformation and AI strategy.
