Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of civil engineering, structural engineering, or architectural design.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture.
  • At least 10 years of experience working as a Civil or Structural Engineer, or Architect, in the Process Industrial or Power industries.
  • Professional registration.
  • Strong understanding of multiple structural analysis software packages and civil design systems.
  • Ability to interpret and design from domestic and foreign structural building design codes.
  • Strong Microsoft Office software skills.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Risa-3D, and STAADPro analysis software.
  • Report writing skills to create structural evaluation reports of existing facilities.
  • Intermediate understanding of other discipline workflows and how departments work together to complete projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
Responsibilities
  • Design structures independently, including rigging and lifting systems, shallow and deep foundations, underground concrete vaults and tunnels, slab reinforcement, pipe supports, pipe rack structures, steel structures, and structural connections.
  • Design steel access platforms with ladder and stair details, trusses, two-legged bents, and four-legged support towers.
  • Develop structural connections, including unique connections caused by field interferences.
  • Solve difficult problems and develop discipline-specific arrangements.
  • Manage personal time and the time of supervised personnel to stay within the project budget.
  • Serve as Design Lead for small discipline projects, including managing several engineers and designers per project.
  • Interface with clients in business development roles during scope and proposal development phases or as required.
  • Develop structural design manhour estimates and work completion schedules.
  • Review vendor concrete reinforcement and structural steel shop fabrication drawings.
  • Develop and review project specifications.
  • Develop structural construction scope-of-work documents.
  • Mentor less senior engineers.
  • Verify field conditions and design constructability, and assist in resolving problems during field construction.
  • Participate in short- or long-term field assignments as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional PE registration is strongly desired.
  • Rigging and lifting design experience is a plus.
