Veterinary Assistant
About the job
- At least 1 year of prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant is required.
- Strong diagnostic, technical, surgical preparation, catheter placement, phlebotomy, and communication abilities are required.
- Experience monitoring anesthesia is required.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work on their feet for extended periods.
- Must be open to rotating schedules.
- Assist with examinations, treatments, and patient care.
- Provide compassionate care and handling for patients of all sizes and temperaments.
- Support doctors in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, and emergency procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and radiography, under supervision.
- Educate clients on basic pet care and post-treatment instructions.
- Administer medications and vaccines, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized hospital environment.
- Occasionally assist with front desk duties as needed.
