About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of specimen-collector experience, 1 or more years of experience in the medical field directly supporting patients, or 2 or more years of customer-service experience in place of medical experience; these experience thresholds are described as preferred or alternatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate a smartphone and computer.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to adhere to HIPAA, HiTrust, confidentiality, and compliance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to adhere to administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity controls.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of sitting 60% of the time, walking 20%, standing 20%, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, including criminal history, watchlist, Social Security number trace, FACIS Level 3, SAM and OIG exclusions, education verification, driving record, and a 5-panel urine drug screen; employment offers are contingent on results meeting position standards.
  • Male candidates are required for observed collections of patients identified as male.

Responsibilities

  • Collect patient urine and/or oral-fluid specimens.
  • Process and package collections for shipping.
  • Serve as an intermediary between the practice or clinic and the laboratory.
  • Record patient information, physician order details, and relevant laboratory information.
  • Resolve specimen concerns involving billing or patient information in the ordering portal.
  • Order and maintain on-site collection-supply inventory.
  • Observe collections for Millennium Health specimens when applicable.
  • Drive between multiple facilities when required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Medical insurance or billing experience, and/or familiarity with medications or diagnostic codes.
