Requirements
  • A high school diploma plus two years or equivalent in trade school or training in building maintenance or construction.
  • At least four years of experience in mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, or building maintenance.
  • Basic working knowledge of general plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, boilers, bathroom fixtures, tiling, painting preparation and finishing, basic carpentry, and groundskeeping.
  • Ability to read written communications, LED readouts, meters, and computer screens.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools and handle and assemble small parts.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, communicate verbally and in writing, use analytical thought processes, understand technical and mechanical instructions, and remain organized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with employees, guests, and contractors in writing, by telephone, and in person.
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds throughout an eight-hour shift and work in small spaces and on ladders.
  • May be required to drive.
Responsibilities
  • Carry a portable radio, remain in communication with the central base station, respond to engineering service calls with priority given to guest requests, and maintain hotel equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs in specialized areas including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
  • Perform all essential functions of a Maintenance Technician 1.
  • Respond to and handle guest requests courteously, efficiently, and safely.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, electrical, and guest-room equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain engineering functions when the full engineering staff is unavailable, including weekends and evenings.
  • Respond to emergencies including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters, and power failures, and notify appropriate authorities.
  • Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure equipment and facilities are working properly.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
  • Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and meter readings, maintain shift logs, and document parts used and parts needed for purchase.
  • Handle elevator breakdowns.
  • Maintain records for the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and Request Program.
  • Complete work-order request forms daily and promptly.
  • Report unsafe conditions to leadership.

Sage Hospitality Group will be taking over management of Hotel Vandivort in Springfield, MO. Sage will oversee daily operations of the property, originally constructed in 1906 as a Masonic Temple, including management of the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop bar.
