Requirements
  • At least 8 years of mineral processing engineering experience in industrial, mining, or related sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with comminution, classification, separation, or bulk solids processing systems across a variety of mineral contexts.
  • Experience working on capital projects from concept through commissioning, rather than exclusively in design-office work.
  • Experience owning process engineering scope as a lead contributor on complex projects.
  • A strong understanding of processing unit operations and equipment performance characteristics across a range of feedstocks and product requirements.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly with engineers, vendors, contractors, and non-technical leadership.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with reliable follow-through.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and process simulation or mass balance tools.
Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee experiments to determine optimal mineral processing circuits that achieve target product specifications.
  • Oversee ongoing material handling test work performed by third-party laboratories.
  • Lead equipment selection, sizing, and specification definition for comminution, classification, separation, and other material handling systems.
  • Review and approve vendor process documentation, equipment submittals, and technical calculations.
  • Support development of process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and process design packages.
  • Define process guarantees, performance criteria, and acceptance testing requirements.
  • Support procurement by developing technical datasheets, request-for-quotation packages, and bid evaluations.
  • Provide technical input to project scheduling, sequencing, and execution planning.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and operational troubleshooting as the project moves toward mechanical completion.
  • Maintain process documentation, technical logs, and lessons-learned records throughout test work and project development.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree in Mineral Processing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, although relevant hands-on experience is heavily weighted.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Visio, HSC Chemistry, JKSimMet, USIM PAC, or equivalent process modeling platforms is preferred.
Anvil Capture Systems

Anvil Capture Systems

View

Anvil Capture Systems removes CO2 by speeding up natural mineralisation of alkaline minerals into solid carbonates, stored on-site for permanent sequestration. It uses a proprietary low-energy reactor and feedstock preparation system to accelerate the reaction, with methods like spreading basalt on tea plantations to hasten weathering. The company differentiates itself through on-site storage and a credit-based model supported by Frontier pre-purchase agreements with buyers such as Stripe, Shopify, and Alphabet. Its goal is to deliver verifiable, durable CO2 removal credits at scale by accelerating mineral carbonation.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • MassCEC awarded Anvil $75,000 in August 2025 for CDR development.
  • In January 2026, Corey Myers presented a New Idria deposit partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
  • Greentown Labs listed Anvil as active in March 2026, signaling continued ecosystem support.

What critics are saying

  • Anvil still has only 1-10 employees on LinkedIn, limiting execution capacity.
  • The Frontier contract covers just 357 tons, exposing weak near-term revenue visibility.
  • Mineralization projects face permitting and feedstock-sourcing delays; New Idria work remains precommercial.

What makes Anvil Capture Systems unique

  • James Lawler and Dr. Corey Myers built a mineralization-first CDR company in Somerville.
  • Anvil’s proprietary low-energy reactor stores carbonate minerals on-site, simplifying measurement and permanence.
  • Frontier selected Anvil in September 2024 for a 357-ton prepurchase.
