About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years of software engineering or technical architecture experience, including production systems in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience serving as the technical design authority for production systems delivered to customers.
  • Hands-on depth in one or more of large language model application and agent development, production data engineering, or backend systems at scale.
  • Ability to guide multiple engineers while maintaining architectural consistency across the system.
  • Ability to remain hands-on, work on the critical path, and prove out difficult technical aspects independently.
  • Ability to communicate precisely with engineers and clearly and confidently with vice president- and C-level leadership.
  • Ability to turn loosely scoped problems into executable builds for an engineering team.
Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end system architecture for an engagement, including platform architecture, data and artificial intelligence design, integration patterns, observability, security, and operational readiness.
  • Translate engagement objectives into a coherent target architecture and implementation plan for the engineering team.
  • Make and own platform and pattern decisions, model selection, agent and pipeline architecture, data flow, security, and cost decisions.
  • Guide and review the engineering team's implementation so individual workstreams integrate into a coherent production system.
  • Write code on the critical path and prove out difficult parts of the architecture.
  • Partner with the Forward Deployed AI Lead to align architecture with business priorities, engagement scope, and delivery sequencing.
  • Deliver architecture documentation, implementation guidance, and production-ready systems for customer handoff.
  • Contribute reference architectures, patterns, and accelerators to the practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building production artificial intelligence systems, including retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agents, fine-tuned models, or large language model-native applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Workflows, Unity Catalog, and Mosaic AI.
  • Background in a consulting firm, systems integrator, or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with statement-of-work-based, outcome-priced delivery and active scope management.
  • Databricks and Anthropic certifications are expected to be obtained after hire.

About the company

Climb turns AI pilots into production systems by embedding AI into core enterprise workflows to achieve measurable business outcomes. It delivers fixed-scope Basecamps that take a data or AI priority from diagnostic to production within weeks, using a single end-to-end team of senior architects, engineers, and AI specialists. The work runs on the Databricks platform with Climb AI Runtime, providing ready-made patterns, evaluation frameworks, and implementation playbooks to migrate systems, modernize data engineering, analytics/BI, AI/ML solutions, and agentic systems. The goal is to operationalize intelligence across the enterprise, aligning projects with KPIs like margin expansion and cycle-time reduction for C-suite stakeholders.
