Requirements
  • Ability to independently develop analytic approaches and evaluate the validity and limitations of epidemiologic findings.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical findings to nontechnical audiences and senior leadership.
  • Ability to communicate with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, healthcare organizations, governmental agencies, or other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of public health surveillance, disease investigation, data quality, confidentiality, and applicable public-health policies and regulations.
  • Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years providing epidemiological expertise in a professional setting.
  • Professional working knowledge of R and/or Python is required.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, conducting, and interpreting epidemiologic studies and investigations.
  • Advanced knowledge of epidemiologic methods, study design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Experience working with large, complex, or multiple data sources, including administrative, surveillance, clinical, or population-health data.
  • Experience translating complex epidemiologic findings into clear reports, presentations, recommendations, and actionable conclusions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with CDC staff at headquarters and overseas offices to monitor infection prevention, control, and surveillance activities to prevent the spread of antimicrobial resistance and/or novel Coronavirus in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Develop guidance, training materials, and monitoring/evaluation tools; provide training, technical assistance, and user support to Ministries of Health and health facilities.
  • Develop strategies to improve data collection, analysis, and use for combatting antimicrobial resistance and novel viruses.
  • Develop internal and external communication products on antimicrobial resistance and novel viruses.
  • Develop and prepare data summaries, feedback reports, and presentations for partners.
  • Participate in calls and in-person meetings with internal and external partners.
  • Provide recommendations for data-driven action using critical thinking and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement work plans with DHQP subject matter experts and partners to accomplish surveillance and program goals.
  • Travel to healthcare facilities or other sites to support infection prevention and surveillance activities.
  • Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead, including staffing the Emergency Operations Center desk to help support CDC's mission.
Desired Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years providing epidemiological expertise in a professional setting.
  • Prior experience working with the CDC.
