GIS Technician
About the job
- A minimum Bac+3 diploma in GIS, geomatics, or cartography.
- Proficiency in at least one GIS software, ideally QGIS or ESRI solutions such as ArcGIS.
- At least three years of professional experience in similar assignments.
- Knowledge of QGIS and ESRI solutions.
- Knowledge of web cartography tools including ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, GeoServer, and GeoNode.
- Knowledge of databases including PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ESRI SDE, GeoPackage, and file geodatabases.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Knowledge of cartography and graphic semiology.
- Knowledge of available Open Data sources.
- Participate in GIS assignments for studies in the Environment, Water, Ecology, and Energy fields.
- Collect and integrate environmental data from varied sources together with project design data.
- Convert data formats, particularly from DWG to GIS.
- Perform quality control of topology, attributes, and data consistency.
- Conduct multicriteria spatial and attribute analyses.
- Create maps for internal services and adapt them to clients' graphic standards when needed.
- Make deliverables available through a dedicated collaborative web platform for project teams and clients.
- Set up mobile or field solutions for field-data collection and real-time information monitoring when required.
- A foreign language, particularly English, is an advantage.

H.W. Lochner has completed its rebrand as Egis following their merger in July 2025, creating a unified US infrastructure business with over 1,500 professionals across 70 offices. The combined organisation offers services across transportation, water, energy and environmental infrastructure. Lochner, an Egis Group company, has appointed Karen Wiemelt to its Board of Directors. Wiemelt brings over 35 years of leadership experience in the nuclear and energy sectors, with expertise in programme management, environmental remediation and strategic planning. Wiemelt previously served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Jacobs, where she led the company's global Energy, Security and Technology business unit. In that role, she managed a portfolio exceeding $1.5 billion in annual revenue and over 8,000 employees worldwide. She has also served on numerous industry and corporate boards. Founded in 1944, Lochner merged with Egis Group in July 2025, positioning it as the cornerstone of Egis' US growth strategy. Wiemelt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
