Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the school, particularly student academic and social success, in collaboration with the Head of School.
  • Orient staff to their job descriptions and delivery expectations, and ensure staff work within designated roles.
  • Support teachers and serve as a first-level problem solver for parent and student challenges.
  • Collaborate on staff development, professional development planning, and coaching needs.
  • Support staff development and compliance with state requirements and requirements of regulatory bodies, including the Illinois State Board of Education and clinical service delivery.
  • Create weekly and monthly reports on student learning and progress.
  • Develop and log student maladaptive behavior data.
  • Collaborate with leadership on publications, including student success and performance data.
  • Orient new staff to their roles and conduct ongoing role-related training.
  • Train staff in the use of PBIS and expand its use to support individual students and progress.
  • Assist with research proposal development and grant writing.
  • Develop short- or long-term school programs that benefit students and the community.
  • Provide staff feedback on job performance, including timeliness, attendance, student engagement, and promotion of prosocial student behaviors.
  • Use and enhance intervention protocols to support quality assurance of student learning outcomes.
  • Model Direct Instruction lessons or use the classroom as a model for instructional methods.
  • Meet weekly with teachers and teams to review student progress and performance.
  • Document teaching performance evaluations and weekly meetings related to teaching performance and student success.
  • Ensure quarterly parent meetings with teachers take place to review learner performance and progress.
  • Lead and support student transitions from area schools or parent-enrolled learners.
  • Ensure student learning goals and individual plans are developed and staff teams are assigned.
  • Train staff in quality assurance for coordinating progress meetings with parents and schools.
  • Maintain a teaching caseload of no more than 10 students in the candidate's area of specialty certification.
  • Maintain confidentiality and operate within the scope of licensure and practice.
  • Represent ExcelPrep professionally to parents and stakeholders through formal written, verbal, visual, and nonverbal communication.

ExcelPrep opens San Antonio location for neurodivergent learners

ExcelPrep, an educational programme for neurodivergent learners, has opened a new location in San Antonio, Texas. The programme combines specialized instruction with clinical care for students with autism, ADHD, developmental differences and language challenges who are performing below grade level. The model integrates speech-language pathology and applied behaviour analysis with evidence-based teaching methods. ExcelPrep uses precision teaching and Direct Instruction, with learner progress measured continuously using Standard Celeration Charts rather than annual benchmarks. The programme offers a four-stage learning continuum, from one-to-one intensive instruction to ability-based classroom placement. Founder Landria Seals Green said the approach treats being below grade level as "a starting point we are equipped to move" rather than a ceiling.
