Requirements
  • At least 3 years of actual fiberglass production experience.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of fiberglass production machinery, including chop guns and gel coaters.
  • Basic maintenance knowledge to keep fiberglass production machinery running.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information one-on-one and to other employees.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by tens and hundreds using units of weight, measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardizing situations.
Responsibilities
  • Double-check all equipment before each part is manufactured and ensure parts are clean and free of debris.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of resin, hardener, and glass cloth are available to complete each part.
  • Ensure the resin and hardener mixture meets specifications during hand lay-up operations.
  • Apply chemical veil, chop, and gel coat layers to meet specifications.
  • Roll out each part layer as required to meet specifications.
  • Maintain proper thickness at all stages of production, especially at tank openings, to ensure proper fit with other parts.
  • Assist with attaching the top, bottom, manway, and various inlets and outlets to the tank shell after the shell is completed.
  • Ensure tank joint integrity inside and outside the tank.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, fork trucks, and the yard crane.
  • Operate or tend the chop gun and gel coat operations to make various parts as required.
  • Complete quality-control and regulatory paperwork as applicable.
  • Keep the work area clean and free of debris daily.
