Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in an information technology field, a Master's degree and four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling ten years.
  • Experience researching, analyzing, and implementing technology strategies to improve user experience or develop new capabilities.
  • Experience with database-driven web applications, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, React, PHP, and Drupal or WordPress content management systems.
  • Working knowledge of at least one SQL-based database.
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance database-driven websites, applications, and web elements for public-facing university websites, with emphasis on user experience, digital accessibility, search engine optimization principles, and client specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and extend the Drupal content management system framework and develop software using PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, SQL, and other languages as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a development environment using change-management best practices, code repositories, development-test-production environments, security protocols, and auditable programming standards.
  • Develop websites and software applications to meet client needs within institutional web style guides and policies.
  • Design, write, and implement new application software and enhancements to existing software, and design application system solutions using current and emerging technologies.
  • Build standards-compliant websites using content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress and web technologies such as PHP, HTML, React, and CSS.
  • Work with complex data structures within relational databases.
  • Collaborate across teams to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into workflows and align artificial intelligence initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Use artificial intelligence to improve code quality and automate coding tasks, including testing, debugging, vulnerability analysis, and suggesting improvements.
  • Troubleshoot issues as required.
  • Maintain technical skills to remain current with new and emerging web technologies.
  • Provide documentation and technical support for supported applications.
  • Coordinate the tracking, implementation, and testing of software.
  • Oversee application maintenance schedules to keep software up to date with stable versions and security releases.
  • Manage document libraries, Git, and other information repositories.
  • Estimate project hours, develop functional and technical specifications, establish timelines for requested software projects, and ensure timely delivery of properly functioning application software.
  • Perform other assigned duties, which may include training, supervision, professional development, and research.
