Requirements
  • ASE certification is required, or the ability to obtain certification within six months.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the automotive repair industry is required.
  • An Associate's degree in Automotive Technology is required.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology and learning management systems to support teaching and learning activities is required.
  • The ability to maintain professional conduct and appearance is required.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • The ability to deal professionally and courteously with a diverse student and employee population is required.
  • Employees must provide satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three days of hire.
  • The position is subject to a pre-employment background check.
Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in specific areas and evaluate their learning progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and update curriculum materials, instructional resources, and assessment tools to meet industry standards and educational objectives.
  • Design and implement hands-on training activities in laboratory and shop settings to reinforce theoretical concepts and develop students' practical skills.
  • Interpret college policies for students in a positive manner.
  • Maintain and follow syllabi for courses.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements in Automotive Technology to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities to contribute to program improvement and faculty development.
  • Teach afternoons and/or evenings, as needed.
  • Teach dual-credit classes in high schools, as needed.
  • Teach web classes and hybrid or remote classes, as needed.
  • Use instructional technology in the classroom.
  • Complete online course certification through the Kilgore College Faculty Innovation Center upon employment.
  • Submit official transcripts upon receiving an offer of employment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and engage diverse learners.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are preferred.
