- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or relevant field preferred
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
- Experience working with AI algorithms and the ability to develop systems accommodating AI related requirements
- Experience developing desktop and mobile applications
- Familiarity with common stacks
- Familiarity with AJAX, GitHub & Git
- Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery)
- Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js/NPM)
- Familiarity with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Apache) and UI/UX design
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address complex technical challenges
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross functional teams
- This position is eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Collaborate with development teams and product managers to implement innovative software solutions based on requirements from internal and external stakeholders
- Able to develop entire architecture, responsive design, user interaction, and user experience
- Design client-side and server-side architecture
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
- Create security and data protection settings
- Write technical documentation
- Work with researchers, data scientists and analysts to improve software
- Keep track of new development-related tools, frameworks, methods, and architectures
- Contribute to research publications and represent MBZUAI at industry conferences and events, showcasing the institution’s cutting-edge HPC and deep learning capabilities and establishing MBZUAI as a global leader in AI research and innovation
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property and thought leadership in the field of high-performance computing for deep learning
- Perform all other duties as reasonably directed by the line manager that are commensurate with these functional objectives

IFM builds and studies foundation models—large AI models designed to learn broadly from diverse data and be used across many tasks. Its work centers on academic research to create open, fast, and practical models that address real-world societal needs, rather than narrow applications. The models are developed by a global team across Abu Dhabi, Paris, and Silicon Valley, with a strong emphasis on openness and collaboration to advance AI science and accessibility. Unlike typical private labs that lock models behind paywalls, IFM aims to provide publicly accessible, efficient models that can be used by researchers and developers to solve real problems. The overarching goal is to push the science of foundation models forward while ensuring their benefits reach society at large.
