About the Job

Requirements

  • Deep, hands-on skill in one or two security domains—application security, cloud security, identity and access management, cryptography, detection and response, or platform security—backed by real evidence of impact.
  • An instinct for trust boundaries, failure modes, blast radius, and attacker behaviour, rather than viewing vulnerabilities in isolation.
  • Ability to translate complex security risk into terms that are understood by engineers, product managers, and senior leadership, and to shape outcomes through persuasion rather than title.
  • A risk-based approach to weighing decisions proportionately under uncertainty and focusing on work that reduces real risk rather than merely meeting compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and technical domains simultaneously while maintaining quality and judgement.
  • A history of identifying gaps and driving security fixes through to completion in loosely defined problem spaces.
  • Willingness and eligibility to undergo UK Government security vetting in the future if required. Standard UK SC eligibility typically includes residence in the UK for the past five continuous years, a valid passport, and passing background, financial, and criminal record checks.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize security risks across physical products, systems, and infrastructure, distinguishing genuine business threats from hypothetical concerns.
  • Build and implement practical security controls across cloud platforms, applications, products, and data, and help engineering teams do the same.
  • Build and use threat models to identify architectural weaknesses, trust-boundary gaps, and failure modes before they cause incidents.
  • Own secure-by-design evidence, EN 18031/CRA Annex I assessments, fuzzing and penetration-testing programmes, the vulnerability register, and security advisories.
  • Work with engineering, product, and operations teams as a security partner, providing patterns, guidance, and guardrails.
  • Help detect, investigate, and contain security incidents, and drive lasting fixes based on lessons learned.
  • Reduce manual, reactive security work through automation, improved tooling, and secure-by-default development and operational practices.
  • Conduct assurance work such as audits, certifications, and customer security reviews, ensuring controls work in practice.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in or around regulated, high-assurance, or defence-adjacent settings where security demands are complex and failure carries significant consequences.
  • Practical offensive security experience, such as red teaming, penetration testing, or adversarial simulation, informing defensive design and threat modelling.
  • Awareness of security issues specific to artificial intelligence or machine learning systems, such as model integrity, data pipeline security, or adversarial machine learning.
  • Experience building security programmes at scale, such as security champions networks, secure development lifecycle tooling, or company-wide risk frameworks.
  • Cloud-native security engineering experience, especially with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including infrastructure-as-code, container security, and cloud identity patterns.
  • Exposure to supply-chain security issues, such as dependency management, build pipeline integrity, or third-party component assurance.
  • Experience working with classified data, government security frameworks, or cross-domain security requirements.
