Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • IMS won TSMC’s 10% investment on September 12, 2023, validating strategic importance.
  • MBMW-301’s 2023 launch aligns with EUV high-NA demand and 2nm design cycles.
  • Two new products broaden coverage from mature-node masks to leading-edge EUV applications.

What critics are saying

  • Intel still held majority ownership in 2023, leaving IMS exposed to parent-level strategy shifts.
  • A single qualified-tool market concentrates revenue with TSMC, Samsung, Intel, and large mask shops.
  • ASML, NuFlare, and JMS can outspend IMS on adjacent lithography ecosystems, compressing pricing by 2027.

What makes IMS Nanofabrication unique

  • IMS’s 590,000-beam MBMW architecture cuts 2nm EUV mask write times over 10x.
  • MBMW-301 targets 2nm and beyond; MBMW-100 Flex reaches 32nm to 10nm.
  • Tekscend installed Europe’s first MBMW-100 Flex at AMTC Dresden on November 12, 2024.
