Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC or machine tools, specifically Siemens 840D series, is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting Siemens Step 7 programmable logic controllers is required.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of basic safety requirements for hand tools, power tools, lift equipment, and ladders is required.
  • Experience with programmable-logic-controller troubleshooting and maintenance, along with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, is required.
  • Basic electrical circuit troubleshooting and repair skills are required.
  • Knowledge of basic shop arithmetic and the metric system is required.
  • Basic operation of Microsoft Windows-based personal computers and Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Availability and willingness to work weekends and overtime is required.
  • Experience with aerial platforms and working at heights is required.
  • Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds is required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and repeatedly climb stairs in a manufacturing environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain Broetje automated fuselage equipment and related support equipment by following operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Locate problems by observing mechanical and electrical assemblies in operation, listening for malfunctions, and using precision measuring equipment and test fixtures.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling assemblies with hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes, and examine the form and fit of parts.
  • Adjust functional tooling and equipment parts with hand tools according to written OEM specifications.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance according to written procedures and OEM standards to control equipment downtime.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipts in the Maximo asset management system.
  • Use maintenance resources and supplies efficiently to accomplish assigned work.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs through inter-shift pass-downs to maintain continuity between shifts.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform related duties that contribute to the team’s work.
Desired Qualifications
  • A technical certificate or training in control systems, including Siemens programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, and motion-control systems, is preferred.
  • Training or experience in system integration, sensors, and electromechanical devices is preferred.

Together with ZAL and other partners, Broetje-Automation is working on the BiSconA project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to develop an automated ‘built-in stress’ compliant joining process for aircraft fuselages that sets standards in terms of accuracy and speed of the assembly process and ensures the stress-free condition of the fuselage over the entire assembly process.
