- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 3 years of heavy equipment experience is required.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures is required.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics and operating and maintenance service manuals is required.
- Advanced working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems is required.
- Ability to operate lifting devices is required.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment is required.
- Familiarity with electronic cables, connections, and sensors is required.
- The employee must be able to work inside and outside in heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, and arid conditions.
- The employee must use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury or hazardous materials.
- The employee must be able to stand, stoop, squat, push, pull, twist, turn, and lift, and lift varied weights.
- The employee must be able to see, read, and write to complete job responsibilities and use computers and other technology.
- The employee must be able to communicate with customers and complete written service documentation.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel-powered equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrain components, winches, high-pressure pumps, centrifugal pumps, air compressors, microprocessor controls, electromechanical equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, power take-offs, 12/24-volt electrical systems, equipment cabs and controls, chassis and suspension, and air-conditioning systems.
- Inspect and test equipment for proper operation.
- Install and repair new or reconditioned parts.
- Complete parts requisitions and returns, timecards, and service reports.
- Use diagnostic equipment and systems to assist with repairs.
- Maintain the service truck and all equipment on it.
- Interact directly with customers to ensure customer service throughout the repair process.
- Represent Blanchard Machinery professionally by arriving on time and communicating with customers throughout the repair process.
- Complete all job responsibilities safely and promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Previous experience working on Caterpillar equipment is a plus.
