EquiTrust taps Sureify to modernise legacy insurance tech.

EquiTrust taps Sureify to modernise legacy insurance tech. October 1, 2026 EquiTrust Life Insurance Company has selected Sureify to modernise the technology connecting its life insurance and annuity operations, with data exchange and distribution partner access at the centre of the project. The US insurer will deploy Sureify's CoreCONNECT platform as a central integration layer linking its existing core systems. The aim is to reduce the complexity created by disconnected technology and make it easier for information to move between internal platforms. CoreCONNECT will also support EquiTrust's adoption of data-exchange standards established by the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI). Through API connectivity, distribution partners will be able to access information and tools directly, reducing reliance on manual processes and potentially speeding up business activity. For EquiTrust, the technology upgrade is intended to create a more scalable foundation for future growth. Connecting systems through a common layer could simplify workflows for employees while giving financial professionals and other distribution partners faster access to the information they need. The insurer distributes life insurance and annuity products through independent sales representatives and independent marketing organisations. Headquartered in Chicago with operations in West Des Moines, Iowa, EquiTrust is owned by Amistad Financial Group, which has interests spanning life insurance and annuities, investment management and community engagement. Sureify focuses on digital engagement and enterprise connectivity for life and annuity insurers. Its CoreCONNECT platform is designed to help carriers modernise legacy infrastructure while connecting agents, advisors, policyholders and employees through more integrated digital experiences. The deployment forms part of EquiTrust's broader technology strategy, with the insurer looking to use modern infrastructure to support growth without losing the relationship-focused service model it provides to financial professionals and policyholders. EquiTrust senior vice president, information systems Jai Kuchimanchi said, "Technology is an enabler of our broader business strategy - not the end goal," adding, "By creating a more connected and adaptable technology foundation, we can reduce complexity, help our employees work more effectively and make it easier for financial professionals and policyholders to do business with us. Our partnership with Sureify will support EquiTrust's growth while allowing us to continue delivering the responsive, relationship-focused experience people expect from us." Sureify chief business development officer Bryan Padgette also commented, "EquiTrust has built an exceptional company by staying focused on the people it serves," adding, "Its commitment to financial professionals, policyholders and long-term value is evident in the way the organisation approaches its decisions. We are grateful for the opportunity to support EquiTrust's vision and proud to play a role in the company's continued success." Enjoying the stories? Investors. Sureify adds aiCONNECT to CoreCONNECT platform.

Sureify adds aiCONNECT to CoreCONNECT platform. The new AI layer lets life and annuity carriers connect models and agents to existing data, systems and workflows under carrier-defined controls. Anthony R. O'Donnell // September 30, 2026 (Image credit: IIR.) Sureify (San Jose, Calif.) has introduced aiCONNECT, a new AI capability built into CoreCONNECT, the data-orchestration layer at the center of the company's life and annuity technology platform. CoreCONNECT integrates with carrier systems, unifies data and orchestrates workflows across digital experiences. aiCONNECT extends that architecture by allowing AI models and agents to access information, initiate transactions, support workflows and respond to business events according to permissions established by the carrier. "By embedding AI to this layer, carriers can unlock greater value across the large volumes of information already sitting in their systems," comments Ben Brantley, CTO, Sureify. Sureify says tasks such as reporting on pending applications or identifying and acting on in-force policy activity can be performed through AI tools including Claude, other preferred models or directly through the CoreCONNECT interface. AI Inside the Orchestration Layer The company says aiCONNECT is designed to do more than retrieve information or generate responses. Depending on carrier-defined permissions, AI can prepare or initiate transactions and take part in operational workflows, with human review inserted where required. For example, an underwriter could use AI to gather information about an applicant's existing coverage across administration systems already connected to CoreCONNECT. An AI agent could also review an incoming document, identify relevant information and determine or recommend a next step. Sureify is also developing life- and annuity-specific AI skills and agents for carrier operations and producer workflows. Carriers can configure those capabilities according to their own rules and requirements. Governance is built into aiCONNECT through permissions governing what information AI can access, what actions it can take and when human review is required. Sureify says this approach is intended to let carriers begin with lower-risk use cases and expand AI activity as confidence grows. "The opportunity with AI in life and annuity is enormous, but the value won't come from AI operating in isolation," comments Dustin Yoder, CEO, Sureify. "It comes from embedding AI into the systems, data and processes that run the business, and doing that in a way carriers can control." Sureify unveiled aiCONNECT at the 2026 Sureify Life & Annuity Summit at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas ahead of ITC Vegas.

Sureify contributes to winning team at IRI Hackathon advancing advisor intelligence with AI.

Sureify contributes to winning team at IRI Hackathon advancing advisor intelligence with AI. Sureify, a life and annuity technology platform provider for carriers, proudly sponsored and participated on the winning team at the 2026 Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) Hackathon. Team "Hack to the Future" came together to develop an AI-powered advisor support framework that simplifies complex in-force annuity management workflows and surfaces actionable opportunities for advisors. Designed to bring together a select group of industry leaders and innovators, the IRI Hackathon created a space where carriers, technology providers, and financial institutions worked side-by-side to tackle real operational challenges facing the retirement income industry. "The IRI Hackathon is designed to accelerate innovation across the industry. It was exciting to see teams like 'Hack to the Future' bring together expertise from across the ecosystem to explore how new technologies can simplify complex processes and improve the advisor experience." Hannah Pikus, IRI, Director of Digital First Standards - Operations and Technology Tackling in-force complexity. Team "Hack to the Future" included experts from across the retirement ecosystem, including representatives from Morgan Stanley, LUMA Financial Technologies, Brighthouse Financial, Symetra, and Sureify. Together, the group tackled one of the industry's most persistent operational inefficiencies: fragmented systems and manual processes that slow down advisor workflows and limit visibility into in-force opportunities. The solution introduced a unified advisor experience powered by AI agents that aggregate data across systems, identify opportunities, and guide advisors through key actions such as replacements, reallocations, and income elections. By automating data-gathering, analysis, and documentation workflows, the framework helps reduce operational friction and improve advisor decision-making. Turning fragmented data into advisor action. Managing in-force annuity portfolios today often requires advisors and service teams to navigate multiple carrier portals, inconsistent data formats, and manual compliance checks. These fragmented workflows increase operational costs, slow service timelines, and create missed opportunities for better client outcomes. Modern digital experiences are no longer measured solely by how much they ease or accelerate a transaction. Today's expectation is for systems to stay several steps ahead, transforming from passive tools into proactive partners that signal exactly when an agent needs to step in. While most carriers have digitized access to policy information, identifying opportunities such as replacements, reallocations, or income elections often still requires manual analysis across multiple systems. AI-Driven advisor intelligence. The "Hack to the Future" solution demonstrates how AI-driven agents can orchestrate these processes through a single advisor interface. By bringing together policy data, compliance requirements, and opportunity detection into one environment, the framework enables advisors to quickly identify actions that may benefit clients while automatically generating supporting documentation and audit trails. "Our team started with annuity replacement as the use case, but the concept quickly expanded into something bigger, an AI-driven framework that helps advisors identify opportunities and take action within a single environment. What the hackathon validated for me is that the work we've been doing with CoreCONNECT over the past several years, unifying data and orchestrating workflows across life and annuity systems, is exactly the foundation these complex advisor experiences require," said Ben Brantley, CTO at Sureify. The concept highlights a broader shift toward intelligent automation in retirement products - where AI can support advisors with real-time insights while maintaining the compliance rigor required in regulated financial services. About Sureify. Sureify has been at the forefront of digital transformation in life and annuity since 2012. Years of experience building digital experiences within the industry's complex ecosystem have refined our purpose: to solve the data and workflow challenges that hinder modernization.
