About the company

Bolt Technology is a mobility platform that combines ride-hailing, scooter rentals, and food delivery to connect people with transportation and local restaurants. Users book rides or scooters via the app, with drivers accepting requests and completing pickups quickly. For food delivery, Bolt drivers pick up meals from local restaurants and deliver them to customers. The company emphasizes flexible earning opportunities for drivers, who can choose when and how often to work and get paid weekly. It also serves businesses by helping restaurants and stores reach more customers. Bolt differentiates itself with a large global user base (over 150 million riders), rapid pickup times, and a multi-service model that lets drivers earn by transporting passengers, delivering food, or both. The goal is to provide flexible earnings for drivers while expanding mobility and delivery services to meet consumer demand and help partner businesses grow.

Lucid shares jump 6% on Bolt autonomous vehicle deal, but $1.47B cash burn raises concerns

Lucid Group announced a strategic partnership with Bolt, a European shared mobility platform, to develop autonomous mobility services across Europe. Bolt plans to deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous vehicles using Lucid's upcoming Midsize platform, with a goal of 100,000 autonomous vehicles by 2035. Financial terms were not disclosed. The announcement sent Lucid shares up nearly 6% on 17 September. However, the company continues to face financial challenges. In Q2 2026, Lucid reported an adjusted net loss of $2.78 per share, worse than the $2.41 consensus estimate. Cash burn reached $1.47 billion, up from $1.01 billion year-over-year. Lucid said it had identified $1.4 billion in cash flow improvements for 2026. Short interest stood at 45.81% of the float as of 31 August.

Lucid Motors partners with Bolt to deploy 25,000 autonomous EVs in Europe by 2035

Lucid Motors has partnered with European mobility platform Bolt to potentially deploy robotaxis across the continent. Bolt aims to introduce at least 25,000 fully autonomous vehicles built on Lucid's upcoming mid-size EV platform. The announcement follows restructuring at Lucid under new CEO Silvio Napoli, who recently cut nearly 20% of the workforce and delayed the mid-size platform's first vehicle launch to the second half of 2027. No money has changed hands, and Bolt has not placed orders yet. The vehicles will use Nvidia's Hyperion autonomous vehicle architecture, though the autonomous driving software provider remains unspecified. The partnership marks progress towards Bolt's goal of 100,000 autonomous vehicles by 2035. Lucid is also working with Uber and Nuro to launch a robotaxi version of its Gravity SUV by late 2026.

Bolt launches in Milan to challenge underserved Italian ride-hailing market

Ride-hailing app Bolt has launched operations in Milan, marking its entry into Italy and expansion to 26 of the EU's 27 member nations. The Estonia-based company will work with hundreds of drivers and expects to service millions of rides in its first year, with plans to expand elsewhere in Italy. CEO Markus Villig said Italy's market remains heavily underserved despite Uber's presence, citing chronic shortages and long wait times caused by the country's 1992 framework that strictly limits taxi licences. Milan, with a metro area population of roughly 3 million, had only 4,853 active taxi permits before approving 450 new licences last year. Bolt does not expect profits in Italy within five years and is urging regulators to liberalise the market, which faces strong opposition from taxi unions.
