Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalency (GED) is required.
- At least six months of experience working in a hospital setting is required.
- Alternatively, at least one year of patient-care work experience in a healthcare facility, one year of experience in a 0.6 full-time-equivalent Operating Room Assistant position at MUSC CHS, a college degree, active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution, active enrollment in an accredited healthcare-related field, or Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or equivalent training is accepted.
- Basic Life Support certification is required within two weeks of hire and must thereafter be maintained.
- Certification must be current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing direct patient care under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel.
- Perform tasks required for daily unit functions.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized allied health course or six months of patient-care experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, rotating shifts, and weekends is preferred or may be required by scheduling needs.
