Requirements
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or engineering management role within MEP engineering, infrastructure, or utility construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles, and civil and MEP engineering best practice.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness with an understanding of contract administration and project controls.
  • Experience working in a cost-conscious environment with responsibility for programme, resource and budget performance.
  • Effective people management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work packages.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with clients, designers, suppliers and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement practical construction solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and construction-related digital systems.
  • Valid CSCS card.
Responsibilities
  • Lead by example in promoting a strong culture of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Supervise subcontractors, Site Engineers, Assistant Engineers and the workforce, ensuring all parties understand and adhere to approved RAMS and construction methodologies.
  • Review and verify setting out activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support and mentor MEP engineers, ensuring material testing, quality records, task briefings and inspections are completed effectively.
  • Maintain high standards of engineering records, including survey documentation and site diaries.
  • Attend and, where required, chair coordination meetings with stakeholders, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Ensure drawings, specifications and 3D model information are complete, accurate and suitable for construction, raising requests for information in a timely manner to avoid programme delays.
  • Ensure Inspection and Test Plans are completed and digitally recorded in accordance with project and contractual requirements.
  • Develop, review and monitor short-term programmes of 2–4 weeks with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure planned progress is achieved.
  • Monitor MEP site activities for compliance with company policies, procedures and statutory requirements, promptly addressing unsafe conditions and non-conformances.
  • Monitor plant, labour, material usage and programme performance to support efficient project delivery.
  • Prepare material take-offs, requisitions and procurement requirements as directed.
  • Produce and review construction documentation, including Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Material Approval Requests and Task Briefings.
  • Manage material orders and maintain accurate procurement records.
  • Prepare Temporary Works Design Briefs and inspect temporary works following appropriate training and authorisation.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
  • Communicate key construction information clearly to supervisors, foremen and operatives to ensure works are delivered safely and correctly.
  • Maintain accurate records of instructions, variations and additional works, ensuring supporting resource records are captured and retained.
  • Ensure delivery tickets are correctly coded and submitted for processing.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.
