About the job

Requirements
  • A portfolio demonstrating design work that changed product strategy or how teams operate across teams.
  • Experience setting a long-range consumer vision and showing what shipped as a result.
  • Experience in fintech, at a startup, or in consumer advocacy.
  • Experience running or directing generative discovery and working with dedicated researchers.
  • Ability to work in codebases, agentic tools, and component systems such as shadCN, Tailwind, and Next.js; prototype in code; contribute in GitHub; and assess how agentic tooling changes what designers can build.
  • Ability to judge where polish matters, including accessibility, and explain tradeoffs.
  • Experience building or rebuilding a design system or similar shared production system, including consideration of how agents use it.
  • Ability to give direct feedback and earn trust with product managers, engineers, and designers.
Responsibilities
  • Set and advocate for a long-range consumer experience vision, making it concrete through concepts, principles, and prototypes that teams can build toward.
  • Make high-level decisions on how brand and consumer experiences are implemented, and lead large-scale projects independently or with other designers.
  • Work with the Lead Consumer Researcher to determine research priorities, frame generative discovery questions, and ensure findings influence what is built.
  • Build systems that enable designers and agents to work effectively, including the design system and UX copy system, their structure and documentation, connections to code, and exposure to agentic tools; decide where rules help and where they slow people down.
  • Drive consumer innovation and strategic initiatives across functions, identify opportunities without a single team owner, make the case for them, and work with product and engineering to start them.
  • Mentor designers at every level through direct feedback, critique, and collaborative work on difficult problems.
  • Improve team capabilities through workflows, tooling, standards, and skills that others can adopt, and turn effective individual practices into team practices.

What believers are saying

  • Sage Home Loans won Robinhood: since November 2025, Robinhood Gold members get mortgage rates at least 0.75% below average.
  • Early-career staff move up: a March 2026 list built from promotion, pay and retention data gave Red Ventures Platinum status.
  • Benefits go past basics: US staff and their families get free therapy, plus fertility, adoption and surrogacy support.

What critics are saying

  • Plan on commuting: Red Ventures asks for 3 to 4 office days a week, varying by team.
  • Expect leadership changes: Bankrate named an outside CEO in October 2025, four months after The Points Guy did.
  • Demand swings with the economy: in 2022, Moody's said its consumer finance and travel units fell sharply in the pandemic.

What makes Red Ventures unique

  • It shares a health business with an insurer: RVO Health, co-owned with UnitedHealth Group, runs Healthline and Healthgrades.
  • Bankrate's rate surveys are economic data: in May 2026, the St. Louis Fed's public database added 40 years of them.
  • Red Ventures sells its growth skills too: its RV Home unit embeds data and growth teams inside home-services brands.
