About the job

Requirements
  • Typically, five or more years of relevant Integrated Logistics Support experience within a defence, aerospace, or comparably regulated engineering environment, including structuring and delivering an ILS workstream or small programme end-to-end.
  • Working knowledge of core ILS disciplines: Logistics Support Analysis, maintenance and Reliability-Centered Maintenance planning, provisioning and spares optimization, technical publications, training needs analysis, and obsolescence management; familiarity with relevant standards as applicable to defence programmes.
  • A background in engineering, logistics, materiel management, or a similarly relevant discipline, with fluency in technical and supportability content.
  • Ability to build processes and structures where none exist, using lean, fit-for-purpose practices.
  • Ability to operate independently with customers and subcontractors and contribute credibly to commercial content such as bids, statements of work, and subcontractor evaluations.
  • Sound judgment under ambiguity, including weighing supportability, cost, and schedule trade-offs, prioritizing competing demands, and recognizing the limits of one's expertise.
  • Fluency in English.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Integrated Logistics Support workstream end-to-end for a programme or major workstream cluster, covering Logistics Support Analysis, maintenance planning, provisioning and spares optimization, technical publications, training needs analysis, and obsolescence management; create plans and milestones from scratch.
  • Work with engineering to ensure supportability and maintainability considerations inform design decisions early, and proactively manage logistics and support risks.
  • Build working-level customer relationships, including with customer logistics and support authorities, and translate customer requirements into ILS deliverables and programme outcomes.
  • Structure ILS-related bid and proposal content; evaluate ILS subcontractors and suppliers, including training providers and spares and technical publication suppliers, and identify potential partners.
  • Develop subject-matter expertise in ILS and the customer's operational perspective on supportability; use it to shape programme strategy, risk decisions, and lessons shared beyond the team.
  • Establish and refine ILS processes, templates, and structures while avoiding unnecessary process overhead.
  • Own and share ILS knowledge and skills across the team, serve as the reference for supportability and logistics questions, and address unassigned problems within the scope.
  • Make supportability and logistics trade-off decisions under ambiguity, judge which risks can be carried or require escalation, and involve engineering, quality, or commercial expertise when appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
  • German fluency is desirable for the bilingual working environment, but is not required for this specialist discipline.

About the company

Hypersonica GmbH develops hypersonic technology for aerospace and defense in Europe, aiming for speeds of Mach 5 and above. Its focus is on hypersonic vehicles that require advanced propulsion, heat-resistant materials, and complex aerodynamics, developed in stealth mode for dual-use government and future civil high-speed transport. The company is backed by investors including General Catalyst, 201 Ventures, ESA BIC, and TUM Venture Labs, with involvement in European accelerator networks for early-stage support. Its goal is to strengthen Europe’s resilience and space sovereignty by building private-sector hypersonic capabilities for defense and potential civilian high-speed applications.

What believers are saying

  • February 2026 testing validated systems through ascent, descent, and subcomponent performance.
  • Hypersonica targets full-scale flight tests in Q1 2026 and operational capability by 2029.
  • NATO demand for deep precision strike gives Hypersonica a ready defense budget pull.

What critics are saying

  • Hypersonic strike programs face export controls, range access, and government customer delays.
  • Competitors like MBDA and Roxel can outspend Hypersonica on follow-on tests.
  • A single failed flight before 2027 would crush credibility and capital access.

What makes Hypersonica unique

  • Hypersonica flew Mach 6 from Andøya Space on February 3, 2026.
  • It claims Europe’s first privately funded hypersonic missile flight.
  • Plural, SPRIND, General Catalyst, and 201 Ventures back its 2026 roadmap.

Munich's Hypersonica raises €23.3M Series A, tests hypersonic missile at Mach 6

Munich-based hypersonic systems startup Hypersonica has emerged from stealth with a €23.3 million Series A funding round led by Plural and a successful test launch. Founded in December 2023, the company is developing Europe's first privately funded hypersonic strike capability. On 3 February, Hypersonica launched a missile prototype from Andøya Space in Norway, reaching speeds exceeding Mach 6 and a range over 300 kilometres. The company completed the vehicle's development in just nine months. The Series A round included participation from Germany's Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, General Catalyst and 201 Ventures. Hypersonica aims to deliver an initial short-range hypersonic strike capability by 2027 and fully operational hypersonic glide vehicles by 2029, targeting NATO member states' defence requirements.
