Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Consistently deliver professional, friendly, and engaging service to guests and colleagues.
- Lead and manage daily housekeeping operations, ensuring consistent execution of Fairmont service and cleanliness standards.
- Supervise, inspect, and follow up on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and overall quality.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes, including daily inspections, audits, and timely follow-up on identified gaps.
- Take ownership of guest concerns related to housekeeping, responding promptly, documenting issues, and coordinating with relevant departments to ensure resolution.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings, briefings, and line-ups to communicate priorities, reinforce standards, and foster engagement.
- Train, coach, and develop team members on cleaning procedures, equipment use, safety protocols, service standards, and brand expectations.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of housekeeping team members in partnership with People & Culture.
- Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback, coaching, recognition, and development opportunities to maintain high standards.
- Address performance and conduct concerns through coaching, mentoring, retraining, and corrective action, when appropriate.
- Manage the departmental budget responsibly, optimizing labor, supplies, and other resources while maintaining service and quality standards.
- Balance operational, administrative, and team priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure consistent compliance with departmental policies, procedures, brand standards, and applicable safety and sanitation requirements.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly and follow up with Engineering to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of inspections, audits, evaluations, training, and other departmental activities.
- Partner closely with Front Office, Engineering, and other operational departments to resolve guest concerns, address quality issues, and ensure a seamless guest experience.
- Use quality and operational data to identify trends, prioritize opportunities, and drive continuous improvement within the department.
- Foster a culture of accountability, pride, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Lead by example and maintain a visible presence on the floor and throughout the operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
- At least 1-2 years previous leadership experience in large Housekeeping or Rooms Division preffered
- Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications preferred
- University/College degree in a related discipline an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Additional Information
Salary Range: $95,000 to $108,000 Annual
