Requirements
  • Three to four years of client experience in retail banking and/or the financial services industry, including experience working with business owners.

  • Responsibility for meeting all compliance requirements imposed on First Financial Bank by state and federal law and regulation, including Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Office of Foreign Assets Control, suspicious activity reporting, lending compliance, and deposit compliance requirements.
  • This position requires adherence to applicable compliance and regulatory procedures, including Bank Secrecy Act, Check 21, Customer Identification Program, Community Reinvestment Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Regulation B, Regulation D, Regulation E, Regulation CC, Truth in Savings, privacy compliance, and the Patriot Act.
  • The associate must comply with all applicable bank, loan, and regulatory guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain profitable small business banking relationships within the Consumer Bank by focusing on the holistic and long-term needs of business owners and their businesses.
  • Identify client needs and recommend deposit, treasury, and loan products; negotiate deposit and loan terms; coordinate loan approvals and closings; open and manage deposit accounts; and refer clients to key company partners.
  • Develop core client relationships with existing clients and identify new opportunities in the small business segment.
  • Manage an existing portfolio of clients, seek opportunities to work with employees of clients, introduce clients to partners as needed, and prospect for new clients through networking and external calling efforts with internal and external partners.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to assigned districts and banking centers to promote development and growth in the small business segment.
  • Execute consumer bank strategies and objectives to attract, retain, and grow core small business relationships, fulfill client financial needs, and provide a first-class client experience.
  • Develop and implement strategies and plans to engage districts and markets, establish behaviors and routines for success in the small business segment, and achieve individual, district, and regional production and growth goals.
  • Manage, deepen, and grow client relationships, with a primary focus on business relationships with credit and deposit exposure assigned to the small business segment.
  • Initiate and maintain client and prospect contact through timely and relevant contact strategies, including banking center interactions, telemarketing, digital channels, and activities and events outside normal working hours.
  • Establish personal sales plans and strategies for assigned districts and regions, leverage and follow up on leads and campaigns, and deepen and win new core small business relationships anchored with a small business checking account.
  • Coordinate new loan origination requests, conduct loan closings, open new small business banking deposit accounts, and take a holistic approach to client needs by referring other bank products and services.
  • Consult with other Small Business Bankers and Banking Center teams on challenging or complex small business client situations and identify new introductions and opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison and knowledge resource for financial center teams and associates regarding small business products, services, promotions, and program enhancements.
  • Assist the Business Program Manager by providing leadership, feedback, and guidance within the small business segment to improve the program and support its long-term success in assigned districts and regions.
  • Participate in bank marketing and sales promotions focused on the small business segment and contribute to initiatives and programs supporting organizational strategic priorities.
  • Identify and develop the small business client segment book of business, provide in-market support, foster client relationships, and uncover opportunities.
  • Act as clients' trusted advisor by adding value and building deep client relationships through the First Client Conversation Model.
  • Participate in and lead the First Financial Bank Experience through site-center huddles, district meetings, and regional meetings supporting sales and service activities.
  • Meet or exceed sales and referral goals by collaborating with lines of business to help clients meet their financial needs.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to financial center teams on referral and sales activities focused on the small business client segment.
  • Hold periodic meetings with district and market leadership, regional presidents, and key stakeholders to align resources around the plan and prioritize actions.
  • Create strategic partnerships with internal and external partners, establish priorities, identify small business needs in assigned communities, and develop plans, strategies, and tactics with community organizations.
  • Leverage community connections to market campaigns, promotions, and products applicable to small businesses and their owners and employees.
  • Be accountable for district and regional small business development performance and provide local team leadership through ongoing coaching, development, performance feedback, and development planning.
  • Assist clients seeking a Small Business Administration loan, lead the process with clients in partnership with the Small Business Administration team and processors, and ensure required policies, procedures, servicing activities, and internal controls are followed.
  • Adjust time spent on activities as needed to support customer segment goals and objectives.
