Apollo's chief economist Torsten Sløk has warned that AI agents could soon shift deposits from low-interest bank accounts into higher-yielding alternatives, potentially stripping banks of cheap funding. AI assistants like Meta's Muse might move cash from accounts paying 0.1% into fintech accounts offering up to 5%. Sløk notes that banks rely on low-cost deposits to fund loans, a core profit source. If every household used AI agents to optimise returns, banks could lose significant deposits, creating problems for the financial system. Meta launched Muse on 8 September. Whilst users can view balances through the platform, Plaid's announcement does not confirm Muse can transfer money between accounts. JPMorgan recently suggested Muse could become the most widely used consumer AI app since ChatGPT.
SOCAR and Apollo to explore upstream investment opportunities. Azerbaijan News 26 September 2026 14:45 (UTC +04:00) Laman zeynalova. BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Apollo will explore opportunities for investments in upstream projects, SOCAR reported on Saturday. "The Memorandum of Understanding between SOCAR and Apollo on a strategic partnership for investment in upstream development and production projects provides for the evaluation and structuring of potential investments by Apollo-managed funds in SOCAR's interests in upstream development and production projects, the establishment of joint working groups for this purpose, the conduct of legal, financial and technical due diligence, and the preparation of definitive agreements," the company said. In early June, during Baku Energy Week 2026, SOCAR and Apollo signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the TANAP project. Under the agreement, Apollo acquired a minority non-controlling stake in the holding company that owns SOCAR Türkiye's 7% stake in TANAP. The parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand cooperation in energy financing. The document provides for increasing the existing TANAP financing facility to $300 million, as well as exploring financing opportunities for other SOCAR Group assets. Earlier, Apollo Global Management Head of Global Structured Finance Jamsheed Ehsani said during the seventh annual Caspian Business Forum organized by the Caspian Policy Center (CPC) in New York that discussions were underway on financing major energy projects in Azerbaijan and abroad.
Reynolds, Mac and Apollo buy Wrexham pub. Deputy Sports Editor - City AM Ryan Reynolds, Rob Mac and Apollo Sports Capital have purchased a pub in a move that expands Wrexham AFC's footprint. The Turf, which used to look over the stands and into the Championship football ground, has been added to a portfolio by the club's wonders which includes both Wrexham and their Racecourse Ground home. The acquisition comes weeks after the local council told the club to "get their act in order" after Wrexham built a training base without planning permission. They had lodged an application after work had started last month. Eric Allyn, on behalf of minority investors the Allyn family, said: "Ever since we invested in Wrexham AFC through Red Dragon Ventures in 2024, the town, the community and the Football Club have become a second home. "And no place more so than The Turf with Wayne Jones behind the bar and filled with the locals and international fans that visit regularly - they have all become our friends and have welcomed us into the Wrexham family. News updates. Stay ahead with our three daily briefings delivering all the key market moves, top business and political stories, and incisive analysis straight to your inbox. "By bringing The Turf into the group, we are securing the long-term future of the pub and with it preserving its history and that of the club." Wrexham pub snapped up. The existing landlord, Wayne Jones, will be kept on at the club - which has seen a rapid rise to the second tier of English football after being purchased by Reynolds and Mac in 2021. The Hollywood pair later acquired the Racecourse Ground freehold and then received government grants for a regeneration project. And in December 2025 the club sold a minority stake to major sports investors Apollo Sports Capital at a £350m valuation. The club's ground is currently experiencing a regeneration, with its Kop Stand being rebuilt to house more supporters. Wrexham are 14th in the Championship having won two of their opening eight games, against Southampton and Millwall.
