Responsibilities
  • Define, publish, and govern global standards, specifications, and procedures for automation cell design, collaborative robot safety and integration, and controls-to-manufacturing execution system integration across all plants.
  • Establish audit and governance mechanisms to keep sites compliant and consistent with global automation standards.
  • Own and continuously refresh the multi-year global technology roadmap for automation and robotics integration.
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, including collaborative and flexible robotics, controls-to-manufacturing execution system or enterprise resource planning integration architectures, and next-generation automation cell designs.
  • Lead structured vendor evaluation and drive technology adoption where it creates the greatest enterprise value.
  • Identify, codify, and deploy automation best practices across the global plant network.
  • Partner with plant, regional, and business-system teams to close performance gaps in overall equipment effectiveness, uptime, and automation reliability.
  • Pilot new automation cells and technologies quickly at a line or plant, prove results, and scale successful solutions across locations and regions.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between manufacturing engineering and plant operations to ensure new processes are designed for automation from the earliest stages.
  • Lead the evaluation, qualification, and management of automation and robotics vendors to ensure suitable technology and capability reach plants.
  • Build automation and robotics capability across the network through training, certification pathways, and hands-on mentoring of plant and controls engineering talent.
  • Act as the escalation point and final technical authority for complex automation, integration, and uptime problems; lead root-cause investigations and ensure fixes are sustained.
  • Spend the majority of working time at Gemba, on the plant floor, at automation cells, and at controls cabinets.
  • Personally lead problem solving on priority safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost issues, and hold self and others accountable for measurable results.
  • Align teams around customer needs and opportunities identified at Gemba, set priorities, and enable data-informed decisions close to where work happens.
  • Bring together perspectives and connect teams across the value stream to achieve shared goals, address challenges constructively, promote collaboration, and enable ownership close to the customer.
  • Hold teams accountable for team results, drive consistent execution, and build systems for sustained performance while prioritizing safety and integrity.
  • Create an environment where problems are surfaced transparently, root causes are addressed sustainably, and teams learn, experiment, adapt, innovate, and grow.
  • Publish and communicate global automation cell design and collaborative robot safety/integration standards to all plants within the first year.
  • Develop a technology roadmap aligned with Advanced Manufacturing leadership and complete a network baseline assessment of automation capability and overall equipment effectiveness in the first year.
  • Identify priority best practices and pilot them at two to three lead plants in the first year.
  • Establish trusted technical relationships with plant, engineering, and vendor leadership and define an escalation process for complex automation and integration issues.
  • Take at least one standard or best practice from pilot to multi-site scale within the first year.
  • Deploy and audit global standards and best practices across the plant network within two years.
  • Translate the technology roadmap into funded automation capital projects with measurable return on investment.
  • Optimize the vendor base and establish qualified partners to produce the majority of automation and robotics equipment.
  • Establish a global training and certification pathway and develop a growing bench of qualified practitioners.
  • Deliver sustained, measurable improvement in overall equipment effectiveness, uptime, throughput, cost, safety, quality, and delivery across the network.
  • Scale multiple piloted solutions across regions and embed a repeatable experiment-deploy-scale approach.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with major robotics and collaborative robot platforms such as Universal Robots, FANUC, ABB, or KUKA.
  • Controls or programmable logic controller programming experience, such as Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
  • Manufacturing execution system platform integration experience.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification.
  • Prior global or multi-country role with exposure to diverse regulatory and cultural operating environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of scaling pilots across multiple plants or regions.

Johnson Controls has acquired Nantum AI, a New York-based developer of AI algorithms for building energy efficiency, to enhance its OpenBlue digital ecosystem. Ring Capital joins Enerin's Series A to decarbonise high-temperature industrial heat

Enerin, a Norwegian industrial heat pump technology company, has completed the third tranche of its Series A round, adding Paris-based Ring Capital to its investor consortium. The round includes Climentum Capital, The Footprint Firm, Johnson Controls, Move Energy, PSV Hafnium and Momentum. The company's HoegTemp system delivers thermal energy at temperatures up to 250°C, targeting the industrial heat segment responsible for over 20% of global CO2 emissions. Each installation avoids approximately 36,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over its lifetime by replacing fossil-fuel boilers. Enerin is transitioning from development to serial production, with three active pilots and a recent contract with Roche. The funding will scale manufacturing operations and accelerate product development. CEO Arne Høeg said Ring Capital's involvement strengthens the company's ability to deploy solutions across Europe.

Insteel reports fastest revenue growth among building products stocks despite missing Q4 estimates

Insteel reported Q4 revenues of $159.9 million, up 23.3% year on year, but missed analysts' expectations by 1.3%. The steel wire reinforcing products manufacturer delivered mixed results, beating earnings per share estimates whilst falling short on revenue. Despite achieving the fastest revenue growth among the five commercial building products stocks tracked, Insteel recorded the weakest quarterly performance in the sector. The group collectively beat consensus revenue estimates by 1.2% and saw share prices rise 3.4% on average since earnings. Johnson Controls led the sector with revenues of $5.80 billion, up 6.8% year on year and exceeding expectations by 2.8%. Insteel's stock has risen 3.6% since reporting and currently trades at $34.90.

Johnson Controls to acquire Alloy Enterprises, boosting data center cooling efficiency by up to 35%

Johnson Controls has signed an agreement to acquire Alloy Enterprises, a Boston-based thermal management technology company, to strengthen its position in the data centre cooling market. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 2020, Alloy Enterprises specialises in advanced direct liquid cooling components that can improve thermal management efficiency by up to 35% and reduce pressure drop by up to 75%, resulting in lower overall cooling system energy use. The company's proprietary Stack Forging manufacturing process creates single-piece components with embedded microgeometries for maximum heat transfer. The acquisition complements Johnson Controls' existing thermal management portfolio and aligns with its strategy to deliver differentiated cooling solutions for AI-driven data centres. The transaction is expected to close in fiscal Q3, subject to regulatory approvals.
