Requirements
- Graduation from a nursing program and a school of anesthesia for nurses.
- Current Registered Nurse license from the Alabama Board of Nursing with a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist designation.
- Current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist certificate from the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support credentials.
Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame.
- Provide patient care through therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, health care team members, and the environment.
- Contribute to the administrative functioning of the nursing unit.
- Perform accepted procedures used to render patients insensible to pain during surgical and other pain-producing clinical maneuvers.
- Support life functions while anesthesia is administered, including induction and intubation.
- Provide appropriate pre-anesthesia management of patients.
- Provide consultation relating to respiratory therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and special problems in pain relief.
- Perform pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia patient evaluations.
- Provide appropriate and effective anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgery or special procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of personal, financial, medical, and employment information concerning patients, families, and employees.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is preferred.
