Requirements
  • An MBA, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Risk Management, master's degree in Actuarial Science, or master's degree in Insurance or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must be able to teach Principles of Finance.
  • At least five years of professional experience in insurance, risk management, underwriting, actuarial services, employee benefits, or related fields is required.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate finance courses, including Principles of Finance.
  • Support finance teaching needs with a primary emphasis on insurance, enterprise risk management, and financial risk analysis.
  • Contribute to educational offerings related to property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance, employee benefits, underwriting, enterprise risk management, and emerging risks affecting organizations and communities.
  • Collaborate with industry partners.
  • Support internships and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Develop professional pathways for students interested in insurance careers.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation.
  • Teach four courses each fall and spring semester and two courses during the summer, primarily online, with possible reassigned effort for significant service, program development, or experiential learning initiatives.
  • Participate in AACSB accreditation activities.
  • Provide service to the Maine Business School, the University, the profession, and the broader community.
Desired Qualifications
  • A CPCU, ARM, CRM, CFA, ASA, ACAS, FCAS, FSA, or comparable professional credential.
  • A Ph.D., DBA, or specialized doctoral degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • More than eight years of professional experience in insurance or risk management.
  • Evidence of successful university-level teaching.
  • Experience teaching online and in-person courses.
  • Expertise in enterprise risk management, actuarial science, insurance markets, or financial risk analysis.
  • Experience building partnerships with industry organizations.
