Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary medical care services to pediatric and adult patients, and in some cases Obstetrics and Gynecology patients, in ambulatory and inpatient settings using primary care concepts, with emphasis on illness prevention and health promotion.
  • Participate in planning health activities within the Health Center and community as requested.
  • Manage the Women's Health ambulatory care medical practice by eliciting patient histories, performing physical examinations, providing clinical diagnoses, prescribing evidence-based and cost-effective treatments, and providing patient education.
  • Meet an average productivity standard of at least 2.7 patient visits per hour of ambulatory time worked.
  • Make diagnoses and prescribe treatments and referrals consistent with the Health Center's medical practice guidelines.
  • Provide inpatient Obstetrics and Gynecology care at assigned hospitals.
  • Maintain liaison with partner-hospital medical staff and ambulatory care departments by obtaining and maintaining hospital privileges, attending department and section meetings, and performing physician teaching duties.
  • Take call for Health Center patients as assigned by the Medical Director.
  • Participate in Health Center quality-improvement activities, including complete, legible, and accurate chart documentation, peer-review chart audits and reviews, and designated projects.
  • Prepare, implement, and document age-specific preventive-health schedules for all patients.
  • Build and maintain an Obstetrics and Gynecology practice through follow-up appointments and referrals, inpatient management of obstetric and surgical cases, and other methods that assure continuity of care.
  • Maintain clinical competency through regular continuing medical education and provide documentation to Health Center administration.
