Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree from a two- or four-year college and two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; draw and interpret bar graphs; and work with probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to solve practical problems involving limited standardization, interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and scheduled instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work around equipment and machinery and exposure to noise, dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, and potential biohazards.
  • Ability to carry or lift up to 25-50 pounds and perform the listed physical activities, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, repetitive hand use, grasping, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe slip-resistant shoes, and hearing protection.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all personnel activities assigned in the Composites manufacturing area.
  • Review the daily schedule and formulate a plan to complete it within the planned timeframe.
  • Monitor, direct, motivate, and report safety and quality aspects of manufacturing work areas using Manufacturing Operating System guidelines.
  • Aid the Plant Manager with documentation, capacity and budget planning, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Assign work to employees based on planned quantities and standards.
  • Perform shift-manager duties including reporting, process review, shift performance review, employee appraisal reviews, Management Operating System procedures, disciplinary corrective action, training, follow-ups, time studies, continuous improvement, 5S housekeeping, target and goal development, key performance indicator management, and daily management duties.
  • Follow up on and resolve plan variances during and after shifts.
  • Review the previous day’s safety, quality, and productivity results with production employees and communicate daily goals and priorities.
  • Execute daily Prism transactions for recording, tracking, and transferring production; review off-shift transfer exceptions and complete required transactions.
  • Train employees on system transactions.
  • Monitor employee safety compliance and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Determine work procedures and expedite workflow.
  • Examine work for accuracy, neatness, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and coordinate with other shifts to resolve housekeeping issues.
  • Conduct regular internal safety audits.
  • Communicate issues and concerns to other departments.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including punctuality and dependability.
  • Follow all required safety procedures, wear personal protective equipment as needed, attend safety meetings, and report equipment or hazardous-condition issues.
  • Follow department quality standards and raise concerns to the immediate manager.
  • Understand department key performance indicators and contribute to achieving them individually and as part of the team.
