Requirements
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Services, or a related field of study, or, for active CIC volunteers, a high school diploma or GED with successful completion of all required training and at least six months of independent volunteer Crisis Intervention Counselor service after training.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in crisis intervention services or behavioral health services.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and the ability and willingness to suspend personal judgment regarding callers presenting with diverse issues.
  • Ability and willingness to protect caller and co-worker confidentiality.
Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis, suicide, and homicide intervention counseling by telephone to callers needing emergency or crisis assistance.
  • Identify and suggest appropriate organizations and service providers to meet callers' needs, and monitor callers' situations through case follow-up.
  • Document and maintain accurate, thorough records of all telephone interventions during the work shift.
  • Review daily and pass-through call reports to ensure accurate information documentation and records maintenance.
  • As assigned, supervise and monitor volunteers and/or staff counselors on individual shifts to ensure quality crisis assistance services, adherence to CIC and SCS policies and procedures, and accurate documentation.
  • As assigned, provide crisis intervention and suicide awareness and prevention training and consultation to crisis intervention counselors, volunteers, other service providers, and community groups.
  • Attend and participate in individual supervision, staff and team meetings, and required CIC, 988, and SCS training sessions.
  • As assigned, represent the CIC in internal and external activities to promote crisis and suicide awareness, prevention, and available resources.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Psychology degree.
  • Previous Crisis Call Center experience.
  • Previous experience working in a confidential remote work environment.
