About the job

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience building production web applications, with most of that time focused on frontend development.
  • Demonstrable user-interface craft, including attention to spacing, hierarchy, motion, and empty states; applicants should show something they have built.
  • Experience presenting complex or data-heavy information clearly through dashboards, graphs, tables, workflows, or editors.
  • Ability to work across the stack and write the API and database migration needed for a feature.
  • Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including experience with ORMs, queries, migrations, and diagnosing slow pages.
  • Ability to communicate with CFOs and tax specialists, understand their needs, and turn them into a specification.
Responsibilities
  • Turn complex tax concepts into interfaces that are clear at a glance.
  • Work directly with the tax team to shape requirements and own features end to end, from frontend through backend.
  • Own and evolve the design system and component library.
  • Build data-dense product views, including entity graphs, intercompany flows, compliance status, and documentation.
  • Monitor the customer experience, proactively identify issues, and deploy fixes.
  • Ship quickly and establish the quality standard for shipped work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience founding a company.
  • Startup experience.
  • Design-tool literacy, including Figma, or a design background.
  • Experience with large language model-backed product features, including retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, or evaluation.
  • Experience with Go or willingness to learn it.
  • Data or analytics engineering experience, including the Python data stack.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind, and shadcn/ui, which would enable faster productivity.

About the company

Caribou provides an autonomous tax service combining a cloud-based transfer pricing platform with an Expert-as-a-Service model for multinational and high-growth companies. The platform automates the entire TP lifecycle—policy design, intercompany agreements, benchmarking, accounting setup, and generation of local and master files—while offering ongoing expert support via Slack or Teams at no extra invoice cost, with a 4–6 week implementation. It differentiates itself by delivering a single, end-to-end solution that covers TP plus VAT, permanent establishment risk, and R&D credit eligibility, replacing the need for multiple external firms. Its goal is to help companies stay audit-ready and simplify cross-border tax during fundraising, acquisition, or rapid international growth.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Caribou's website refreshed August 26, 2026, signaling active product iteration.
  • LinkedIn updated September 19, 2026, and London hiring continues for tax specialists.
  • Job posts emphasize SaaS companies scaling globally, a clear customer pain with recurring compliance needs.

What critics are saying

  • Caribou still relies on scarce senior transfer-pricing experts, limiting margin expansion.
  • Big Four firms and specialist boutiques already own multinational tax relationships.
  • If automated compliance becomes commoditized, Caribou loses pricing power and differentiation quickly.

What makes Caribou unique

  • Caribou unifies transfer pricing software, expert services, and compliance delivery.
  • The platform drafts agreements, benchmarks pricing, and automates local-file and master-file work.
  • Caribou targets micro-multinationals needing 4-6 week implementations, not enterprise tax teams.
