About the Job

Requirements

  • A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on machine-learning experience in robotics, with strength in at least one of vision-based manipulation, reinforcement or imitation learning, or multimodal models.
  • Demonstrable experience fine-tuning large pretrained models for robotics or another domain, including PEFT/LoRA and full fine-tunes, dataset curation, distillation, and evaluation.
  • Solid Python skills; C++ is a plus.
  • Practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Proven experience in customer-facing technical roles such as solution engineering, field AI engineering, or technical consulting, including managing several customers in parallel.
  • Solid understanding of robot hardware, including drives and joint modules, torque sensing and encoders, end-effectors, sensor integration, calibration, electrical and fieldbus interfaces such as EtherCAT, and functional safety concepts.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in parallel and translate between researchers, engineers, and end-users.
  • Good command of English and German at B2–C1 level.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites and NeuraGyms, approximately 40–60%.

Responsibilities

  • Drive development of cognitive robotics applications through Physical AI and the NeuraGym platform, owning outcomes on customer robots.
  • Take foundation models to production-ready robotic intelligence through the NeuraGym pipeline, including teleoperation, data annotation, training, simulation, deployment, and validation for real-world robotics applications.
  • Bring policies from checkpoint to real-time closed-loop control using distillation, quantization, action chunking, latency budgets, and on-device or edge inference within customer cycle-time and reliability requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers adopting Physical AI, building relationships, understanding their applications, and supporting them from kickoff to handover.
  • Work hands-on with MAiRA, MiPA, LARA, and humanoid platforms alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams on end-effectors and tool changers, sensor selection and mounting, calibration, electrical and fieldbus interfaces, and robot-cell hardware.
  • Enable key customer personnel to train their colleagues and make customers self-sufficient.
  • Guide and onboard NeuraGym users by reviewing training pipelines and scripts, identifying data-quality issues, troubleshooting model behavior, and providing hands-on support to resolve persistent blockers.
  • Serve as an interface between Cloud and AI teams to support collaboration, technical alignment, and problem-solving.
  • Build evaluation harnesses, success-rate benchmarks, and regression tests to assess policy readiness for handover and expose failure modes before customers encounter them.
  • Translate field experience and customer insights into actionable feedback for the NeuraGym product roadmap and NEURA core AI roadmap.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the open VLA and policy-learning ecosystem, including π0/π0.5, OpenVLA, LeRobot, and diffusion policies.
  • C++ skills.

About the Company

Neura Robotics

Cognitive robots with perception, manipulation, collaboration

Neura Robotics builds cognitive robots for industrial and service settings, combining perception, manipulation, and human collaboration. It develops both the hardware and the software stack for Physical AI, creating robot platforms like MAiRA, MAV, LARA and MiPA along with training infrastructure. The system works by integrating sensing, decision-making, and manipulation capabilities on a hardware-software stack that can be deployed in large-scale production, with the company planning robots fleets and NEURA Gyms for ongoing training and improvement. What sets Neura Robotics apart is its end-to-end approach to Physical AI, including a focus on mass production, an established global deployment plan, and a broad ecosystem of strategic backers and partners that support scaling and international expansion. The goal is to enable worldwide deployment of its robot platforms and associated training infrastructure, turning physical AI into widely available industrial and service automation.
